Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

KNOWING the ONE Behind the Curtain!

We don’t have to wonder what’s behind the curtain.

We don’t have to wonder WHO is behind the curtain.

At the crucifixion of His only Son, Jesus, we saw with clarity.

Almighty God Himself pulled back the curtain when Jesus gave up his last breath.

God Himself tore the veil in two so that all humanity could see with clarity—the GOD of the universe!

God is the One who rent the veil into two separate pieces, revealing the altar of God for every man, woman, and child—to see GOD!

It is with honor and it is such a great privilege that I am offered the opportunity to write about “seeing God with clarity.”

Truly, it is with great humility that I am given this opportunity today.

As I do, I am prayerfully asking God to direct my fingers as I type what He has revealed to me during this morning’s study of the Bible.

Before writing more, please know that I am just like you, a person who desires to know the Bible more today than yesterday.

Before going any further, know that God is faithful to reveal Himself as we seek to know Him more.

Before contemplating—What is behind the curtain?”—we must first consider the truth that all creation has a desire to know their Creator.

Before wondering—What’s behind the curtain?—We must seek to know WHO is behind the curtain.

Go with me into a psalm from the sons of Korah.

“How lovely are Your dwelling places,

O LORD of hosts!

My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the LORD;

My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.

The bird also has found a house,

And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young.

Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts,

My King and my God.

How blessed are those who dwell in Your house!

They are ever praising You.  Selah.”

(Psalm 84: 1-4)

It’s springtime, and as such, the birds of the air are seeking a safe place to build a nest, to lay their eggs, and to hatch their young.  My house garage seems to have become a place of interest for these tiny birds, but as of yet, I have not found a nest.  So, as the hunt continues, I find that I must carefully open my house door (the one that connects the house where I live to the garage where our vehicles reside).  If I open my garage door early, as in BEFORE I plan to back out my Subaru from the garage, then I take the chance that when I prepare to leave LATER, there could be a small bird fluttering inside the garage.

Birds flutter so quickly.

The flutter of a small bird is contagious because the bird’s flutter inside the garage can cause my heart to begin to flutter.

Quickly, I pull shut the house door because the LAST thing I want is for the small bird to seek the interior of my house as a “possible” place to build her nest.  I think you too would agree.

Outside birds need outside homes (or at least that’s my thinking).

The psalmist writes how “The bird also has found a house,

And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young.”

(Psalm 84: 3)
  • God cares so much for all of His creation!
  • God cares for the birds that he provides them “a house & a nest” so they can build a place of rest for their tiny babies.
  • What a Great God we serve!
  • What an Almighty God HE Is That HE Gave His Only Son for You & for Me!

Not only does God care so much for His winged creation, but God also cares for us!

“How blessed are those who dwell in Your house!

They are ever praising You.  Selah.”

(Psalm 84: 4)

At the moment we come to know God, to accept His Son as our Savior, God takes up a permanent dwelling place inside our being! God Does!  God Himself takes us residence in our house (inside the earthly body where HE placed our soul.)

Oh My Goodness.

Hallelujah!

Thank You God!

  • Inside our body, that is where God desires to reside!
  • Inside our heart, that is where God desires to reside!
  • Inside our soul, that is where God desires to reside!
  • Inside our being—That is where God desires to reside!

The psalmist David praised God with these words—

“Where can I go from Your Spirit?

Or where can I flee from Your presence?

If I ascend to heaven, You are there;

If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.

If I take the wings of the dawn,

If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,

Even there Your hand will lead me,

And Your right hand will lay hold of me.

If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will overwhelm me,

And the light around me will be night,’

Even the darkness is not dark to You,

And the night is as bright as the day.

Darkness and light are alike to You.”

(Psalm 139: 7-12)

We don’t have to wonder what’s behind the curtain,  &

We don’t have to wonder WHO is behind the curtain BECAUSE at the crucifixion of His only Son, Jesus, we saw with clarity!

“Leaning” by Matt Maher & Lizzie Morgan—a beautiful melody about the gift of God we have been given.  God gave Himself to us!  God Did!  God loves us So Much that HE wants to Dwell Inside Us—to fill us with HIMSELF!

Oh My Goodness.

Hallelujah!

Thank You God!

It really IS quite amazing!

Inside our being—That is where God desires to reside!

Inside our being—That is why God tore the veil!

Inside our heart—That is where God will remain!

The Bible tells us how prior to Jesus’ death, the people of God did not have immediate access to Him, but now we do—because of Jesus’ death.

Almighty God Himself pulled back the curtain when Jesus gave up his last breath, and the temple veil was rent into two separate pieces, exposing the altar & presence of God for all to see.

That veil separated mankind from God no longer!

God created the ONLY WAY for us to know HIM—through HIS SON—JESUS!

God did this for us—for every man, woman, and child—So We Might Come to Know GOD!

God created a way we might live constantly within His presence!

Holocaust survivor and author Corrie Ten Boom said it this way—

“Faith sees the invisible,

Believes the unbelievable,

And Receives the impossible.”

KNOWING the ONE Behind the Curtain is LIFE ITSELF!

We don’t have to wonder what’s behind the curtain,  &

We don’t have to wonder WHO is behind the curtain.

THAT IS RIGHT!

WE CAN “SEE THE INVISIBLE—BELIEVE THE UNBELIEVABLE—&—RECEIVE THE IMPOSSIBLE!”

ALL BECAUSE WE KNOW THE ONE BEHIND THE CURTAIN!

“And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.

And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom;  and the earth shook and the rocks were split.

The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;

and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many.

Now the centurion, and those who were with him keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, ‘Truly this was the Son of God.’

(Matthew 27: 50-54)

GOD HIMSELF ALLOWED JESUS TO TAKE MY SIN!

GOD HIMSELF ALLOWED JESUS TO TAKE YOUR SIN!

BEHOLD the LAMB of GOD!

BEHOLD the ONE behind the curtain!

BEHOLD the SAVIOR of the whole world!
