May We Seek the ONE Who Quenches Our Spiritual Thirst
It’s a powerful feeling to feel as if you are “dying of thirst;” nevertheless, that’s exactly what every single person alive experiences—DYING, of Spiritual Thirst. While it is true, our physical bodies need water to survive because our bodies are comprised of a large percentage of water; thus, when we become dehydrated, our bodies cry out, “Give me some water, PLEASE.” Our souls cry out, “Save me Lord Jesus, PLEASE.”
- Our souls need water too, just as our bodies do.
- Our souls need the water only Jesus, the Savior, can provide!
- Our souls need the living water, that which quenches the spiritual thirst we inwardly crave.
- Our souls need the living, spiritual water of Jesus Christ to not DIE & PERISH to an eternity separated from the presence of God forevermore.
Why would we allow our physical bodies to become so dehydrated from natural water that our bodies begin to break down and become physically sick?
We would not ever willingly allow our bodies to scream so long for natural water and not quench our physical thirst.
& so . . .
Why would we allow our spiritual soul to become so dehydrated from the living water only God can provide?
We should not ever willingly allow ourselves to crave the spiritual, living, holy water only our Savior provides and not quench our spiritual thirst.
- Being “thirsty” is both a physical and a spiritual importance—IF WE HOPE TO LIVE!
- Physically, we want to live out the duration of our time on earth.
- Physically, we want to live for as many days as possible.
- Physically, we want to live and not die.
- Spiritually, we must seek the One who willingly went to the cross, gave His live, paid the penalty for our sinfulness, so we could LIVE!
- Spiritually, we are so thirsty for the living water of Jesus Christ!
- Spiritually, we are so thirsty for the living water that will keep us from never thirsting again—forever!
- Spiritually, we desire to live forevermore & not die!
- Spiritually, we can receive that which we inwardly seek, & the Only Way Is Jesus Died & Resurrected to New Life!
The Bible has much to say about this. Let’s read God’s Word together.
“’However, we know where this man is from; but whenever the Christ may come, no one knows where He is from.’
Then Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying,
‘You both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.
I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent me.’ . . .
Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ‘If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From His innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’
But this He spoke of the Spirit [God’s Holy Spirit], whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified”
(John 7: 27-29 & John 7: 37-39)
God wants us to intimately know Him, so He made a way—the Only Way—His Son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus paid the penalty for our sins, for all of humanity’s sins, for our entire debt—Once & for All.
Since that is THE TRUTH, humanity can now enter into God’s Holy presence.
Once Jesus is our Savior, we can speak directly with the Lord.
Once Jesus is our Savior, we can pray directly to the Father, to Almighty God.
- Oh, what a privilege!
- Oh, what an amazing gift!
- Oh, the Amazing Grace and Mercy of God!
“The former priests, on the other hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing,
but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently.
Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”
(Hebrews 7: 23-25)
We are “spiritually” thirsty from the moment of our conception.
We can receive the living water that totally and thoroughly quenches our spiritual thirst one way—through Jesus Christ as Savior.
Let us not remain spiritually dehydrated.
God is the Only One who can fully satisfy us!
- Let us “drink from the living fountain of God” DAILY.
- Let us “drink” and not be parched.
- Let us bow down and pray to the Father.
- Let us bow down and know Jesus as Lord & Savior.
- Let us bow down and allow Jesus Himself to hear our prayers.
- Let us bow down and lift our burdens to the Only One, to Jehovah Jirah, our provider.
Jesus Christ—May our spiritual thirst forevermore be satisfied.
May we seek the ONE Who Quenches Our Spiritual Thirst.
“For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens;
who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.
For the Law appoints men as high priests who are weak, but the word of the oath, which came after the Law, appoints a Son, made perfect forever.
Now the main point in what has been said is this: we have such a high priest, [JESUS] who has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty [Almighty God] in the heavens.”
(Hebrews 7: 26-28 & 8: 1)
Jesus Christ—May our spiritual thirst forevermore be satisfied.
May we seek the ONE Who Quenches Our Spiritual Thirst.
