A walk through life toward eternity

Journeying Home—Christian—How Are We Doing—Are We Using Our God-Given Gift—for HIM?

Journeying Home.

Journeying Home—Christian—How Are We Doing?

Journeying Home—Christian—Are We Using Our God-Given Gift—for HIM?

Christian, look with me at God’s Word.  See our future as shared through the Apostle Paul to those Christians living in Corinth.

“We are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.

Therefore we also have as our ambition,

whether at home or absent,

to be pleasing to Him.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ,

so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body,

according to what he has done,

whether good or bad.”

(2 Corinthians 5: 8-10)

We are on a journey, Christian, walking toward home, walking toward our eternity within the presence of God, walking toward our Savior. So, we must ask ourselves daily, “Am I walking within the will of God, performing the deeds the Holy Spirit of God leads me to do—OR—Am I walking toward heaven, but living as I please?”

Christian, look with me at God’s Word.  See the truth shared through Apostle Peter to those 1st Century Christians about our deeds and our God-given spiritual gifts.

“The end of all things is near;

therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer.

Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

Be hospitable to one another without complaint.

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God;

whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies;

so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ,

to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever.  Amen.”

(1 Peter 4: 7-11)

Christian, we are on a journey, walking home, moving closer, day-by-day to our eternity within the eternal presence of God, where we will behold our Savior Jesus Christ.

Christian, we are marching through this season of Lent toward Resurrection Sunday, and as we do, are we focused?

Christian, we are walking, journeying through this earthly life, not alone, but with the Holy Spirit of God dwelling within us.  Are we performing God’s will?

A great American author Paul Bunyan wrote a secular text titled Pilgrim’s Progress, and in this tale, Bunyan writes of a man (Christian) who is on a journey.  Christian faces much adversity, many other characters as he journeys on—walking toward his destination.  Bunyan was a believer writing symbolically to reveal the importance of walking worthily.

Bunyan said, “if my life is fruitless, it doesn’t matter who praises me, and if my life is fruitful, it doesn’t matter who criticizes me.”

Christian, we have been given a spiritual gift, maybe even more than one, and how we steward, how we manage, how we use our God-given spiritual gift matters!  The Master has entrusted these gifts to us—to His servants.  God ENTRUSTS Us!  Christian, let us not take lightly the gift God has bestowed upon us!  Let us serve Him well.  Others will receive a blessing, and we will one day be able to stand before God, knowing we have served Him well.

Christian, our identity is found in Christ!

Christian, we bear the name of our Savior, Christ Jesus!

Christian, let us be serious, “sober-minded” about our stewardship.

Christian, let us walk worthily.

Christian, let us journey toward home with spiritual eyes focused upon our Lord.

Christian, let us encourage those who are lost to come to know God, to journey too.

Christian, let us walk within the will of God.

Christian, let us be fruitful.

See again—WHY.

“Therefore we also have as our ambition,

whether at home or absent,

to be pleasing to Him.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ,

so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body,

according to what he has done,

whether good or bad.”

(2 Corinthians 5: 9-10)

See again—HOW.

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God;

whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies;

so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ,

to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever.  Amen.”

(1 Peter 4: 10-11)
