Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Are We Seeking God–OR–Are We Attempting to “Fix” the World?

By nature—We are fixers.  By nature—we are fixers.  By nature—we are fixers!

This morning, I would like to pause and look at our lives . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Who do we see—who needs “fixing”?

Who do we know—who needs us to intervene and DO something to “fix” the situation?

Who do we encounter—who needs our help to “fix” whatever is wrong?

FIXING.

Get my tools; I’m ready.

Get my tools; I know the answer.

Get my tools; I am equipped.

Get my tools; & (more importantly), I am ready!

Yet, what if my “tools” need to stay in my tool bag, & what if my “tools” are not needed, & what if my “tools” need to be sharpened more BEFORE they come out of my bag?

I am married to the most wonderful man who can “fix” anything that he touches.

  • A broken vehicle—he’s your man.  He can fix a broken vehicle, get it running, and away you go.
  • A broken appliance—he’s your man.  He can fix a broken “whatever,” get it working, and save you $$$s.
  • A broken _______________, well, he is your man, and I am most thankful to see that he can “fix” almost Every THING, but truthfully, there are just some things he cannot fix.
  • Truth be told, there are so many THINGS I CANNOT FIX!!!

Today, the Lord has revealed WHY we are not called to be the “fixers” of the world, but the “leaners,” the “praying” saints, & the ones who “rely upon Almighty God!”

God is the “FIXER” of all things!

God sees the future, the past, and the present.

GOD DOES!

We do not.

In reading this morning, I was reminded how Moses was a fixer.  An Egyptian mistreating another person (a Hebrew, a kinsman), step in Moses.  We, like Moses, like to strike down the problem.  However, when we do, like Moses, we may need to then flee to a new place because we realize that in the “fixing” we have brought anger and retaliation upon our own head.  Sometimes the most saintly encounter trouble when they react toward the “wrong” found in the present world.

Instead of kneeling and seeking God, we often lift a “pop-up” prayer and then go to work.

Instead of kneeling and seeking God, we often quickly pray as we drive forward into our day.

Instead of kneeling and seeking God, we often DO what WE THINK is the correct action.

Instead of kneeling and seeking God, we often FAIL.

God prepared Moses for greatness.  The same is true with us.

God prepared Moses to lead.  The same is true with us.

God prepared Moses for God’s sanctification.  The same is true with us.

God prepared Moses to know HIM.  The same is true with us.

SEE WITH ME the WORD of GOD.

“Now it came about in those days, when Moses had grown up, that he went out to his brethren and looked on their hard labors;  and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren.

So he looked this way and that, and when he saw there was no one around, he struck down the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

He went out the next day, and behold, two Hebrews were fighting with each other;  and he said to the offender, ‘Why are you striking your companion?’

But he said, [the fellow Hebrew man said to Moses] ‘Who made you a prince or a judge over us?  Are you intending to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?’

Then Moses was afraid and said, ‘Surely the matter has become known.’ ”

(Exodus 2: 11-14)

Are we seeking God?

Are we really—seeking God?

What miracle are we praying for today?

Are we in a hurry, seeking God’s quick FIX?

Are we thinking, “God’s got this,” (when He does) but then we’re also thinking, “God, I can help the situation—FIX—And I just know HOW it (the situation) needs to be “fixed”!

I don’t know what God looks like, but if God looks like a man, I image how He scratches His head and wonders, Why don’t they wait upon Me!!!

“Now it came about in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died.

And the sons of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried out;  and their cry for help because of their bondage rose up to God.

So God heard their groaning;  and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

God saw the sons of Israel, and God took notice of them.

(Exodus 2: 23-25)

Truly, everyone needs the LORD!

Truly, everyone needs a touch from the MASTER.

Truly, everyone who is sick, needs the GREAT PHYSICIAN.

Truly, everyone needs an ALL-POWERFUL GOD to intervene upon their situation.

Truly, everyone does NOT NEED you or me “fixing the situation.”

Truly, everyone needs a TOUCH from GOD within GOD’S TIMING (and not within our calendar timetable).

We live in a world of days, of moments, of calendars, of hours, of time, and we like to “fix” all that we encounter so that we can “move on” to the next thing.  Oftentimes, God has other plans.  Oftentimes, God needs us to not intervene but to pray, seeking HIS will for the person’s situation instead of striking our hands against all the wrongs found in this world.  Oftentimes, we need to be patient, down upon our knees, and seeking God—instead of up on our feet, with our hands filled with instruments of war, striking down what “we think” should be done in the situation.

Now granted, there are times for fighting the battle upon our feet  &

There are times for fighting the battle upon our knees.

Knowing what to do with every situation is a matter of prayer, a matter of seeking GOD!

Let us grow-up in the LORD.

Let us grow-up in the Holy Spirit.

Let us grow-up in our walk with Jesus Christ.

Let us be sanctified a little more today than where we were—yesterday.

Let us seek God’s will, let us be patient, and let us never take matters into our own hands,

BUT

Let us most assuredly—Wait Upon the LORD.

Even when we “think” we are fully grown-up in God, we need to pause, kneel down, seek the LORD, and probably wait for God to move within the situation.

God already knows our situations.

God already knows our prayer requests before we lift our voices.

“God heard their groaning;  and God remembered His covenant”

“God saw . . . and God took notice of them.”

(Exodus 2: 23-25)

Quite possibly, in “fixing” the problems we find in the lives of others, we might cause others to see us more than they see GOD.  Let us be transformed.  Let us be more like Jesus today than we were like Jesus yesterday OR the yesterday before yesterday.  Let us seek GOD’S will for our own lives and let us be down upon our knees seeking our LORD in all situations.  Let us allow GOD to do what only GOD can do—Fix the world!  Let us ask GOD to help us live as a reflection of Him.  Let us not get in the way of allowing others to SEE GOD’S MIRACLES, as He moves in their lives.

Let us attract others to God by our holiness that is FULLY a reflection of JESUS CHRIST, the SAVIOR of the world.

“Thus you are to be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy;  I have set you apart from the peoples [from all other people] to be Mine.” (Leviticus 20: 26)
