Timing . . . It is God’s! So, We Must Wait.
There is a TRUTH we must consider first—the way we perceive the TIMING of our DAYS, our LIVES . . .
DO NOT NECESSARILY ALIGN TO GOD’S TIMING.
OUR TIMING—NOT NECESSARILY GOD’S TIMING!
God Controls The Days, Our Timing We Are Allotted To Live as we walk throughout this earthly life & The Blessings He Provides.
TRULY . . . Children Are A Blessing From Almighty God.
Believers often say words like this, “Prayer has many purposes. One such purpose is to remind us of our dependence upon our LORD.”
Prayer reminds us:
- That no prayer is too small to bring to our LORD.
- How no prayer request is too big for our LORD.
- When God’s timing for our lives is eternally-focused & not bound by calendars.
- Who God is & How God will reveal His answers (to our prayers) even when we think He has given up listening to our pleas.
WHAT ARE WE PRAYING FOR TODAY?
In the early years of marriage, I was praying for a child, and I had reached a place where I thought Jesus had given up listening to me. We must never quit praying; We must continue to wait on God. In 1991, God revealed that He had NOT stopped listening, how my “waiting time” was required before He brought the blessing only God has the power to bring—a child—a miracle—an answer to prayer!
Sometimes God waits.
Sometimes God answers our prayers in a better way than how we first imagined.
Sometimes God does not immediately send us the answer because—
- Maybe we are not prepared, not ready to receive His answer.
- Possibly, we might have unresolved sin within our lives.
- Truthfully, He is waiting for us to ask the right question, the right request.
- Honestly, we are not exactly where we need to be within God’s will or even BECAUSE
- He is waiting for us to place eyes on Him, to look up, to see Him, and to stop focusing upon our unanswered prayer—BUT TO PATIENTLY WAIT UPON GOD’S TIMING!
There is a beautiful melody by the Christian band Mumford & Sons (about waiting for God) titled “I Will Wait.” I hope you will listen if today provides you space to listen.
Go with me again, back in our minds to the year 1991. See a girl of twenty-five, a girl who knew in her heart that she was ready for a child to be born. That was the year my “waiting on God” began. Eight years later, in 1999, the wait was over & we were gifted with our daughter. Truly, we had all but given up hope of ever having a child.
It is a TRUTH!
- God sees the big picture; we do not see with such clarity.
- God desires that we trust Him; we must remain faithful, even when the timing seems slow by our earthly calendar.
- God wants us to remain faithful, to believe, and to share with others how God answers our prayers.
- God will sanctify us during our time of waiting.
- God will create something powerful in our lives.
- Our Task: Never fear in the wait; God answers our prayers.
- Our Task: Never lose faith; God’s timing is always perfect.
- Our Task: Never give up trusting God.
May we learn to pray with all our might.
May we learn to trust God to do the rest—–The Miracle—What Our Heavenly Father Can Do!!!
Today, January 30, my little girl celebrates her 23rd Birthday.
Happy Birthday, Sydney. You are an answer to prayer.
Twenty-Three Special Years marking since the Day of Her Birth. On the day before today (yes, yesterday), I shared this message with my birthday girl who lives so many thousands of miles away from me right now. I said, “There have MAYBE been a handful of years that the ground was not covered in snow on your birthday. This year is NOT one of those snow-less years because last night, when we emerged from the gymnasium, the sidewalks and roadways were slippery as the snow fell from the sky. Today [yes, yesterday] the ground lays blanketed in snow. Happy “early” 23rd Birthday, Sydney!”
This morning (yes, today), I read that where life begins is found inside our heart, the command center of our lives. The Heart. Oftentimes, we think our hearts are these emotion-filled organs, but our hearts, our command centers, are where God takes up residence in us. The Bible tells us so as we read the words of Solomon. See with me.
“Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life [the heart determines the course of our life].”
(Proverbs 4: 23)
We are to guard our hearts with all diligence. That means when the world tells us to take matters into our own hands, to not wait for God’s timing, to rush into something even when we sense in our hearts that we should not—It is THEN when we should LISTEN TO GOD’S TIMING, and not our own.
What is the current direction of our lives?
What are we praying for today?
What does our life reveal to the world about the focus of our heart?
The great theologian Charles H. Spurgeon said it this way—“You must keep all earthly treasures out of your heart, and let Christ be your treasure, and let Him have your heart.”
The Bible tells us—
“Trust in Him at all times, O people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us.”
(Psalm 62: 8)
It’s only by sharing our feelings with God that we can step into a healthy, emotional life.
January 30, 1999 was a “hallelujah” day for me. Happy Birthday, Sydney.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Thank you, God, for blessing us with a child, with Sydney.
WHAT ARE WE PRAYING FOR TODAY?
Hallelujah.
This word is pronounced the SAME pronunciation—In EVERY language on earth!
Imagine the beauty of that statement!—In EVERY language, EVERY person praises God!
WHAT ARE WE PRAYING FOR TODAY?
Are we praying for our health to be restored?
Are we praying for a child?
Are we praying for a door to open?
Are we praying for the wisdom to make a right decision?
Are we praying for a special request a dear friend has shared with us?
Are we praying for those lost, for those who have no hope in Jesus?
The Happiest Day of ALL— the Day of Conviction!
When the Holy Spirit is convicting a person in his heart, in her heart—To come to know and accept Jesus as LORD.
The Saddest Day of ALL—the Day when God no longer brings Conviction!
When God’s Holy Spirit is no longer speaking, no longer convicting a person’s heart, offering the person the chance to receive God’s Salvation.
WHAT ARE WE PRAYING FOR TODAY?
Sydney—You are an answer to my prayer.
Happy 23rd Birthday.
OUR TIMING—NOT NECESSARILY GOD’S TIMING—It is God’s!
So, We Must Wait—on God.
Thank You, God, for answered prayer.
Thank You, God, for Hallelujah days.
Thank You, God, for teaching us to wait on YOU.
Thank You, God, for revealing that Your answers are even better than what we imagined.
Thank You, God, for showing us Your answers to EVERYTHING—even in the prayers that seem unanswered.
Thank You, God, for helping us know You are Perfect Love!
Thank You, God, that You hold us inside the palm of Your hands.
Help us be patient in the waiting.
Help us be strong in accepting the answer to our prayers—ONLY YOU can provide the answer.
In the Scripture, the prophet Isaiah spoke of God’s timing, of our waiting, and of what’s most important. I leave you with God’s Word.
“For from the days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear,
Nor has the eye seen a God besides You,
Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him.”
(Isaiah 64: 4)
