Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

When Our “I Don’t Know” Becomes “I Do Now Know!”

C.S. Lewis did not always believe.  No, he was not a believer for a long period of time.  Then he believed, and once he believed, he never stopped believing!

It is C.S. Lewis who wrote these words:  “All that  is not eternal is eternally out of date.”

For a while now, I have become discouraged.  Where the end of one year and the start of a brand-new year usually brings hope and a bright future, the ending of this past year seemed to bring me further into a melancholy state, and I now know why.

The ending of this past calendar year sent me on a voyage, one that took me across the sea to visit, to hug, to enjoy conversations.  That journey brought me amazing joy as God provided me with conversations along the way—to—and—from my destination & also conversations with the people I love at my two destinations.

As I stood outside with my daughter, listening to the church bells ringing at the stroke of midnight, as one year passed away and a new start of the new year was ushered in, my tears ran down my cheeks.  I knew why then, and early this morning, God reminded me why.

She and I stood side-by-side, watching the dark sky become illuminated by the bright flares of the fireworks, one after another, light in every direction, filled the sky.  I remember looking at her through my tears and exclaiming, “I have never experienced a new year quite like this.”

That midnight moment brought me such an overwhelming joy!

After my visit, I then traveled to another home, to visit with another one I love. We shared preparation of meals, laughter, conversations, time with her family, games. The visit was so amazing beautiful.

I returned to my daughter’s home, shared a day of shopping, good food, more conversations with her husband and her, and even a fun time playing with Maple, her golden retriever.

Then, I came home.

Then, I fell into a state of melancholy as the calendar days began to march forward, and yesterday, a precious soul asked me, “Why?”

I remember my reply.  “I don’t know why.”  In fact, I used the words:  I don’t know—so many times that she smiled at me and asked, “Do you know?” and immediately I recognized her jest as I replied, “No, I don’t know—why.”

This morning, God shook me from my slumber and revealed to me—WHY.

The Bible is clear.

Crystal clear.

Make no mistake, God’s Word prevails.

Take heart, God will keep His promises.

Be encouraged, salvation is offered, and salvation can be received.

The Bible reminds us all: Be still and know God.

In the sweet stillness of this early morning, the LORD reminded me through His Word how He never lied.  His Word whispered to the deep recesses of my soul; maybe it was more of a SHOUT, but God clearly revealed how “when we don’t know, He can lead us to KNOW.”

Thank You, GOD, for helping me now know, so that today, I Do Know!

“Melancholy” is a word that I was asked to define yesterday.

This morning, I read about the word “despair,” about how people can lapse into despair and become mired, even buried up to their throats in despair.  A person cannot just arise one day and proclaim to the world, “I am no longer distraught, melancholy, and living in despair.”

Well, I guess a person can proclaim the words, but words are just that—words—unless the Word of God leads the person out from the world of despair.  People can change their minds, speak positive words, even pretend to be okay, but until God reveals Himself through His Word, then the despair, the melancholy will remain.

Thank You, GOD, for the light of Your Word.

Thank You, GOD, for the lamp Your Word is to our feet so that we may learn to walk, so that we may see Your Truth, and so that our melancholy can be turned into Your Joy!

Yes, Thank You, GOD, for You!

Normally, I write these words:  Do not believe me but believe God’s Word.

Normally, I then follow with a particular passage from the Bible that I think reveals what I am trying to say.

Normally, I find myself planted within one or maybe two Scriptures.

Normal was not what I experienced today.

Today, God took me on a journey, and because He shook me awake so early, much earlier than normal, there was ample time for our walk through the Scriptures.

Today, God revealed how His “good” things are coming,  & Today, I see and know!

Reality transcends what we daily experience.  The reality of the Bible is clear, so clear!

Today, I am reminded—There is so much more to this life—than just this life!

My prayer is that you, too, will step into this TRUTH.

God offers us His Salvation, ours to keep—not just to save us from the fires burning in hell.

God offers us His Salvation, ours to keep—to save us, to keep us, to sustain us, to prepare us, to make us ready—to share our eternity with HIM!

God Does!

God is a Promise-Keeper!

ALWAYS, A PROMISE-KEEPER!

This is how my, “I Don’t Know” Became an, “I DO KNOW!

YES, THANK YOU GOD, I DO—KNOW!

Thank You, God, for shaking me awake this morning.

Thank You, GOD, You Did!

YES, THANK YOU, GOD, YOU CAN!

“Therefore, if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.”

(Colossians 3: 1-4)
