We Show the World Our Longing—As We Walk Daily
What do we long for, really want….MORE than anything?
That is what we will strive to receive, to reach, to gain. Yes, that’s right.
If we want an education, then we will walk away from a steady full-time income to pursue an education (while still working part-time, even part-time that may be 39.9 hours a week, giving us little downtime to rest and rejuvenate).
If we want a relationship with a certain individual, then we will change all that we can about our situation, our body, or our life to gain the attention of the one person we desire to know better (even while others may be encouraging us to not change for the other, still we do….Change).
If we want to make a large purchase, then we may charge the purchase (despite the large interest rate attached to our credit card) OR we may save and save and save (while giving up something vital….like our weekly tithe), so we can save those dollars and put them toward making our purchase.
Think about what we would be willing to do to RECEIVE that which we desire MOST.
We need to receive plenty of rest, and we need to eat healthy food each day, and we need to willingly give our offering to God and not hold anything back that already belongs to God.
SHOULD WE DESIRE TO KNOW GOD “MORE” THAN ANYTHING?
SHOULD WE FIND TIME IN OUR EVERY DAY TO STUDY GOD’S WORD?
My niece Clementine has a baby brother (Baby Jay) who is growing “like a weed,” and this young child is growing healthier and stronger every day since his birth—for ONE single reason—Baby Jay desires nourishment.
The same concept applies to our desire to know God MORE as we grow (UP) in His wisdom!
Do not believe me but believe God’s Word.
The Apostle Peter shares with us how to grow (UP) in the LORD.
“Like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the Word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation.”
(1 Peter 2:2)
The Apostle Paul also shares with us how to grow (UP) in the LORD.
“For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
(1 Corinthians 1: 18-25)
For it is written,
‘I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE.’
Where is the wise man?
Where is the scribe?
Where is the debater of this age?
Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. …(verses 18-21)
but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”
Also, the Apostle Luke (Dr. Luke) shares with us how to grow (UP) in the LORD.
“Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man”
(Luke 2:22)
Believers will be rejected.
Believers will be laughed at and put down and maybe even injured.
Believers will be called foolish.
Believers will be called “weak” by the world.
Yet, Believers will be strengthened through all this by digging in and studying and seeking the face of God & and we gain God’s wisdom through His living Word.
WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR!!!
The thief is out there roaming, seeking ALL he can devour. The thief (the devil) cannot steal the believer’s heart and soul; that already belongs forevermore to Almighty God. Let us not allow the devil to steal our wisdom, our witness, and our joy found in the LORD.
- Let us stay DEEP inside the Word of God.
- Let us desire to worship God more and more every day.
- Let us desire the legacy of Christ more than leaving our own (legacy).
- Let us remember that we preach our funeral every day AS we live; therefore, let us preach Jesus so that the world sees JESUS in us AS we live, even before we reach our death day.
- Let us LIVE out what we LONG for MOST!
- Let us LONG for the lost to come to the saving grace of God!
- Let us LONG to know JESUS More & more!
- Let us LONG to share JESUS—the ONLY ONE WORTHY of OUR LONGING!
Truly, We Show the World Our Longing—As We Walk Through This One Day!
