A Daily Choice—Ours to Make
“What do you want to wear today?” I remember this conversation each morning when my daughter was a small child. Now, granted, Sydney was blessed with a choice of clothing. She did not have just one shirt, one skirt, one short color, or one pair of shoes. No. She was blessed with variety, and therein lay the opportunity for a morning problem.
Therefore, the question each morning became a combination of two questions—“What do you want to wear today?”
“This outfit or that outfit?”
Then her small body would twist as only a small child can do as she placed her small hands upon her choices and attempted to decide. Clearly, a five-year-old did not know what her day would hold; she did not really know if the ease of shorts would assist her more than her little skirt, but still she faced a decision, one that had to be made before we left home, for she was not permitted to wear BOTH outfits!!! & She was also not permitted to wear one outfit and carry the other outfit in her backpack (just in case she changed her mind mid-morning).
Each Morning—-A Decision.
What has the LORD led you to know you must do?
What has God placed upon your heart, a burden for another, for a change, for a move to action, for a stay instead of a go, or for a witness to another you encounter every day. God Leads & We Follow—-OR—-God Leads & We Do NOT.
What has God lead YOU to do?
What has God led ME to do?
What has God led US to do & We have NOT Obeyed, NOT Followed?
Those questions evoke powerful emotions because when God leads us to do and we do not do (as He leads) then, the burden of following God becomes heavy, so heavy.
Yet, Jesus tells us His burden is light.
Yet, Jesus tells us to come and follow. No IFs, BUTs, or WAITs.
Obedience to God’s will is to be INSTANT.
So, how can our following of God’s will be both a heavy burden and a light load to carry at the same time?
IT CANNOT—BE BOTH!!!!
Surely, not at all so!!!
We either believe in Jesus’ resurrection power—-or we do not.
We either hold to the truth that through God’s power, we can do all things (accomplish His will for this one day)—-or we do not.
We either follow Christ every day, walking as He leads us to walk—-or we do not.
We either surrender our will to the Holy Spirit of God—-or we do not.
Wow!!!!!
It is a fact; we have a choice, a daily decision of taking up our cross and following Jesus. AMAZINGLY,—-As we arise each day, we are given this decision, this choice—-to make. Let us walk within the wisdom God provides.
In fact, this decision is given to us right now because today is now today (and if you live in Europe or the far east, then your today is half or more complete). Let us walk within the wisdom God provides.
The Bible is clear, so do not believe me; believe God’s Word.
“Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead.
(Philippians 3: 14-16)
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Let us therefore, as many as are perfect [made perfect through the Salvation of God in eternity], have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; however, let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained.”
God is not concerned with our past mistakes. If we belong to Him and are saved through God’s amazing grace, then God remembers our sins no more. The Scripture says they are forgotten for as far as the east is from the west.
We need to stop remembering how we messed up yester-day, yester-week, yester-month, yester-year, or even yester-ten years ago.
We asked God for His forgiveness, and as we go through life, we may sin, so we continue to seek God’s forgiveness for the sins of each day.
The forgiveness of God does not give us a license to sin. NO!!!!
WE ARE GIFTED WITH A FORGIVENESS OF GOD TO WALK WITH OUR SAVIOR WHO WILL LEAD US AWAY FROM SIN.
Who are we following?
What are we doing?
Has God led us to Do, to Speak, to Witness, to Go—-and we are not obeying?
Let us let go and let God lead us today.
God will lead us to our best life, and that life begins with the first step—One Taken Each Morning—One Where We Say, “Yes, Lord. Use Me. Send Me. Lead Me. I Will Follow YOU.”
