Where is our comfort found? In Our Man-made Thoughts? OR In Our PRAYERS Lifted to Almighty GOD!!!
He kneeled down.
She knew she should go kneel beside him.
He kneeled down, and he bowed his head.
She felt compelled to step forward, to kneel and bow her head too, beside him.
He kneeled down and bowed his head, and he called out to his Father.
She stepped out, knowing she had to, should go as he went, kneel as he kneeled, comfort him, just as he had comforted her before, in times when she had kneeled to pray.
So she stepped out, moved by the Holy Spirit to go, to serve another, a brother, to kneel beside him, and to bow and pray.
She stepped out of the pew, stepping left to the aisle, then she kneeled down…..there in front of the sanctuary, there at the altar, there on the floor where he prayed.
Her words were not needed. She did not even say a word; her only action was to place her hand upon his shoulder to comfort him as he prayed.
“Father, we ask You for healing. We know You are the Great Physician. We know Father that healing comes through you. Father, we ask You to do what only You can do for Jean.”
Did she hear correctly? She had stepped forward to pray for him, to comfort him, thinking he was kneeling there at the altar to pray for someone he loved, maybe for his son.
Surprised. Awed. Unbelievable. Forever Thankful…..Jeff was there, praying for someone she knew so well. He was there……praying…….lifting HER MOM to GOD in PRAYER.
“Oh God, thank You for my brother-in-law; thank You for his godliness. Thank You God for sending Jeff to our family, to Mischele.” That was her prayer as she kneeled there at the altar, comforting him as he prayed, as he lifted HER MOM in PRAYER.
She was obedient to step out. God knew she needed to kneel, to pray. God blessed her immensely as she kneeled to pray, hoping to comfort him, the one who stepped FIRST to PRAY.
BUT GOD………(IN HIS AMAZING LOVE)……..SENT HIM TO COMFORT HER.
ONLY GOD CAN DO THAT.
ONLY GOD CAN CREATE MIRACLES.
ONLY GOD!!!
God wants us to be obedient.
One foot in front of another.
Walking (as on water), looking only to Jesus……
The One who calms the sea.
The One who calms the raging storm.
The One who calls, “Come.”
The One who brings healing & truth & peace.
The One—-JESUS.
There is a world of separation between the person who says, “My thoughts are with you during this time.” Yes, the UNBELIEVER can think of us, can offer man-made help, can comfort with words of human love.
“I am praying. Yes, I am praying and asking God for His miracle, for His calming, for His peace, for the Great Physician to do what only He can do. Yes, the BELIEVER prays for us, lifts prayers, asking God to help the one who needs healing, praying and comforting others through God’s Amazing Love & Grace.
Thank You God for Prayer.
Thank You God for Salvation.
Thank You God for Peace & Comfort You bring to us through other believers.
In the Bible, the apostle Paul was inspired by God to write these words to Timothy, a man of faith, a child of God, and to us.
“The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth; and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him [by Satan] to do his will [the will of the devil”
(2 Timothy 2: 24-26)
Only God can save
Only God brings those lost….to Him.
Only God brings truth.
Only God brings healing.
Only God sent Jesus Christ to us, so we might be saved.
Only God provides the only way…JESUS….the only way to know God.
Only God, through His Holy Spirit, leads us to truth, to healing, to repentance in Him.
Only GOD.
We can Lend a hand, Lend a thought, & Lend a man-made hope to another when we are lost, when we are caught in the devil’s snare. But when Almighty God enters someone’s heart, there is so much more God can do!!!!
- HE can do all things.
- HE leads us to not bring others to anxiety or to quarrels.
- HE leads us to be kind to all.
- HE leads us to teach others, those who do not know HIM.
- HE leads us to be patient, even when we may be wronged, even when another may need correction, those who oppose.
- HE leads us to be gentle with the unbelievers.
God knows that when we react in Jesus’ image, when we react to others, doing as Jesus would do, loving as Jesus loved……then God knows they (the unbelievers) may “come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil,…” (verse 26).
God seeks to save.
God knows His children, the sinner who was lost and who is now found.
God knows those who are still lost, the sinner who is still caught, who is ensnared by the devil, the one who still needs to SEE THE TRUTH ONLY FOUND IN HIM.
We who know God, who are called HIS….We are called to pray, to comfort others.
We who know God, who are called HIS….We are called to pray, to witness, to follow the will of God.
We who know God, who are called HIS….We are His ambassadors.
We kneel.
We pray.
We comfort others in Jesus’ name.
We obediently follow our LORD’S leading, HIS WILL.
We follow, we obey, & We are blessed in and through our obedience.
Thank You God for Your blessings.
Thank you Jeff for kneeling to pray for mom.
When I obeyed GOD’S leading, when I stepped out and walked to the altar, when I listened to the Holy Spirit’s prompting and kneeled beside you, when I came forward to comfort you……It was you (Jeff) who prayed, who talked with God, who brought comfort to me…..through your lifted prayers for my mom.
Thank you Jeff.
Thank you for your obedience to do God’s will, to pray for your sister-in-Christ.
“And today, we pray, Thanking You GOD for our salvation, for bringing us to our senses, for saving us from the devil’s snare, from the devil’s will.
Thank You GOD for YOU.
Amen.”
