Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

May We Pray & Rely upon God’s Holy Spirit

Sometimes we pray and pray and pray, wondering, ‘God, what is happening there?’ My aunt Verne told me several stories about situations where people prayed, telling how the Lord answered their prayers. Even though she has passed, her stories remain with me, reminding me that the Lord answers our prayers. We are to be faithful to pray. Therefore, even when we continuously pray for a person, for a situation, or for a life-decision and do not understand what is going on or wonder why the delay, let us remember how the Holy Spirit of God can help us. We are to seek the Spirit for our guidance in all situations, even in the way we pray and in waiting for the Lord’s answer to our prayers.

“but just as it is written,
“THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD,
AND WHICH HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN,
ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.”

“For to us God revealed them through the Spirit;
for the Spirit searches all things,
even the depths of God.”

(The First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 2: 9-10 NASB)
  • The Spirit of God will lead us to a deeper understanding of Scriptures as we read and meditate, and as we ask Him to open our minds to God’s truth.
  • The Spirit of God will help us be more intentional, prompting us to love others as Jesus.
  • The Spirit of God will guide us to others, those more spiritually mature, to engage with them in Spiritual conversations, so we can better understand of the ways of God.
  • The Spirit’s leadership will deepen our knowledge of God’s purposes, His timing, and our obedience during the “wait.”

“For who among men knows the thoughts of a man
except the spirt of the man which is in him?
Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God,
so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,”

(The First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 2: 11-12 NASB)

I encourage each of us to meditate on these verses, see the depth of God’s love for His saved ones. Remind yourself moment-by-moment that God’s Spirit is a person who goes with you everywhere you go, who speaks within you, directing your steps, guiding your thoughts and your prayers. HE IS PRESENT WITH YOU, EVEN NOW, and here’s why: ”so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,” (The First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 2: 12b NASB)

Is that not the most beautiful thought? Therefore, let us keep praying, keeping listening to the very words we speak. As I journal these thoughts, a melody plays, one I feel needs to be included here.

“SOMEBODY PRAYED” by Forest Frank & Tate Butts

“for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.” (The First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 2: 10b NASB)

God will reveal His plans and purposes to us as we pray, as we follow Him, and as we strive to lay down our lives, seeking His leading. PRAISE GOD!

He leadeth me, through life to everlasting life. The Spirit of God goes with us, leads us through every season of life, and the Spirit will guide God’s children until the day He guides us home to heaven, for God knows the end from the beginning.

“For such is God,
Our God forever and ever;
He will guide us until death.”

(The Psalms 48: 14 NASB)
