It Was a DAY Like No Other.
Years ago when I was a kid, I saw the world shake and tremor. The sound was quite eerie. Suddenly, dishes (that normally sit quietly on their shelf) SHOOK.
I remember that day quite well. It was a Sunday afternoon.
When the dishes inside mom’s china-cabinet began to rattle, we left the house. Yes, we moved outside into the front yard, leaving the structure we always thought most secure, the one we relied upon to shelter us from all storms.
I remember that day quite well. It was a Sunday.
I actually heard the dishes shake. Now, I live in Kentucky, a state where tremors and earthquakes are NOT common or everyday occurrences. Yet, that day…….we did.
I was there.
I still remember that day quite well.
It was after church, a Sunday afternoon, an ordinary day like no other.
Years later, Darrell served several deployments, and he had to spend several months living in California, so Sydney and I traveled there a few times to see him before he deployed. It was during one of our journeys to CA, when the news media ran a series of reports on the number of tremors experienced in CA during a single day. Even though more than a hundred were detected within the span of a day, thankfully zero were physically felt by any of us.
BUT, what if they had been felt? What if the constant shifting of the ground was felt daily, right below the soles of our shoes?
Would we understand the concept of Immovable and steadfast BETTER?
What can separate us from the Love of God?
What can strip away our confidence in God’s ability to maintain our salvation?
How steadfast is God?Is God trustworthy?
Does the Love of God ever leave?
Is God’s Love for us dependent upon our abilities?
How True is God? Is God Faithful?
Are His Promises Secure? Sure?
What shakes apart God’s covenant of peace?
Will God ever remove His lovingkindness from us?
The short answer…..Never.
Never-ending. Never leaving. Always Secure. Every day…..SURE.
A confidence…..Always There.
A Promise of God.
A Promise from God (to us).
Sustaining & Sure. FAITHFUL & Steadfast.
A Vow of Assurance.
Not Truthful today and then gone tomorrow.
God’s Word Is Forevermore.
HIS PROMISE, God’s Gift of Jesus, the Messiah, the Savior Freely Given & Freely Received. Once we are found, we can never become lost again. The Bible tells us that TRUTH.
Let us Recognize GOD’S PROMISE & His Presence……Here with us.
Ours to Gain. Once we say to God’s voice calling us to salvation, once we reply to God, “Yes Jesus. Be my God and my LORD,” then we belong to God forevermore.
Foundational. Rock-Solid. Ever-Sure. God’s Covenant to us.
It is Steadfast. It is His Lovingkindness toward us. It is Immovable. Unshakable.
God’s HOPE.
His Amazing Assurance. The Faithfulness of GOD is EVER-SURE!
Thank You, God for this Truth—–We can never, ever lose our salvation.
Our Hope for eternity rests in this promise of God, and (so) once again, let us be reminded——When we have accepted God into our heart, we BELONG to HIM. PERIOD.
The FAITHFULNESS of GOD is more sure than the ground we walk upon!!!! The Bible tells us so.
“‘For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, And My covenant of peace will not be shaken,’ says the LORD who has compassion on you” (Isaiah 54: 10).
Have we ever asked ourselves: “What are we willing to give for another to come to know the LORD as his (or her) Savior?
Let’s bring that question closer to home.
What am I willing to give for someone I know to accept Jesus as LORD?
What am I willing to give for another to come to know Jesus as Savior?
Are we willing to give—-ALMOST ANYTHING? & If so, what is included within that category?
Does our good health belong within that category?
Our skills and ability to make money to survive—-Does “almost anything” include that?
What about all that we possess? Is “almost anything” inclusive of that too?
If we were called by God (verbally asked by God), to walk closer with Him than we do with our family and friends, would we be able to do that so another could come to know Jesus as Savior?
Our Health is precious. Our Skills may be honed. Our Possessions may be gained through our previous hard work. Our Relationships are so precious to us. What about our next breath? Could we (would we) willingly give that away to see someone we love come to know the LORD?
If we believe God’s promise of salvation, & If God already calls us HIS, & If we love God so much in return that we desire someone we love to know God—–even more than we want our next breath,—–Then,—–WHAT WOULD WE GIVE (UP) TO SEE THAT PERSON COME TO KNOW THE LORD?
Today might just be that day, the “day like no other.”
HEALTH. SKILLS. POSSESSIONS. RELATIONSHIPS. LIFE.
Would we give up ALL these?
ALMOST ANYTHING?
ALMOST EVERYTHING?
Clearly, THESE CATEGORIES INCLUDE SO MUCH. What does our LORD require of us? What does our LORD ask of us?
He asks that we love God with all our heart, and with all our soul, and with all our mind, and that we love our neighbor as ourself (a paraphrase of Matthew 22:37-38).
Our daily steps. Our daily witness. Our kindness and compassion to others. Our faith in Him lived out loud.
God’s faithfulness is foundational. It is Secure. It is the very character of God, and far more secure than the ground we walk upon each day.
And so I end with this: That day, like no other day, when I was a kid, when I heard the dishes shake, and when I saw the world tremor and move…..It was a Sunday afternoon. I was there. I remember it quite well. I will never forget that day.
On another day (later in my life) when I was fifteen, God saved me from utter darkness and brought me into His light and saved me for eternity in heaven with Him. I was present on that day, & IT TRULY WAS A DAY LIKE NO OTHER!!!
What did God give for each of us to receive His salvation?
God gave His Only Son, Jesus Christ!!!
We are here, just living life. Will we share Jesus with someone we meet? Will we share Jesus with someone we love?
If you are reading this and YOU are the “someone” who needs to receive Jesus, maybe today will become——-Your DAY Like No Other—-Your Day to receive Jesus.
“Now may the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15: 13).
