Knowing With EXACTNESS
We lIve in a world where people struggle to make change. If we pay everything by our credit and debit cards, then we never need to worry about someone returning to us the right change, but what if we decide to pay only cash? Would all of the businesses we attend be thankful we did (pay with cash and not card)? In fact, we have become a society that relies so much on a calculator, and a computer, and a cash register to display the exact amount of change required.
BUT…..What if we relied upon “a person” to grant us the exact change needed? Would we trust that he returned to us the right amount, slide the change into our pocket–OR–would we count out the change placed into our outstretched hand, checking to see that he had (returned to us the correct change)? & Would we even be able to mathematically calculate the right change expected to be returned to us as we stood there waiting for the clerk to withdraw the paper money and coins?
Let’s pause right there today to see this moment of thought—THE EXACT CHANGE REQUIRED.
I live with the human calculator.
Truly, I Do!!!!!
My husband can “do the math” to any mathematical equation EVEN BEFORE I remove my backpack purse to take out my wallet. He thinks it’s odd that I can’t walk through the store, see a rack of something on sale, (40% off), and not be able to immediately calculate how much money I will save, and how much to the exact penny I will pay, even after the 6% sales tax has been added back to the bill. It’s rather quite amazing. A walking calculator——He Is a walking calculator—&—I AM NOT!!!
I find that when it comes to numbers, my brain works better if I just “round up,” then I am always pleasantly surprised. My grandma was like me (or more appropriately, I am much like her). She wrote many checks, and she kept her check register in whole amounts, recording what she spent by rounding up the dollar amount. Instead of writing down onto the register that she spent 28.74, she would just write 29.00, knowing that at the end of the month, when her bank statement arrived, she would always have more money than her register recorded.
Ingenious!!!!
THE EXACT CHANGE REQUIRED.
THE EXACT CHANGE NEEDED.
THE EXACT FOCUS.
THE REVELATION.
This thinking applies as much to our life-decisions as much as it does to our wallets. When we are faced with an opportunity to change, we are offered the assurance of knowing EXACTLY WHAT CHANGE to make.
“How can we know what change to make,” we might ask ourselves?
The opportunity we are facing—OR
The new chapter in our life–OR
The end of our research thesis, the completion of an analysis we have worked on for a full year–OR
A new career, a time after studying for months to pass four exams to “become the responsible adult” (again)–OR
The drive to the state office to sign the retirement papers–OR
The decision to have another child, to adopt, to foster–OR
The relationship we have discovered in time shared with another–OR
The toxic habit we need to walk away from, one that has taken over our life–OR
The new semester at the university, signing up to take some courses that will place us on a brand new career path–OR
The belief that maybe this Jesus really is the Messiah and that HE can become our personal Savior when we invite Him into our heart.
How?
How can we know when the EXACT CHANGE is coming to our outstretched hands?
The ONLY way we can ever truly experience peace in knowing God’s got our this (Our Change) is found in having the right perspective—a godly perspective. Rather than see the problem facing is—the change needed—we focus instead on the GOD who is able to make the change needed.
“He who made the Pleiades and Orion and changes deep darkness into morning,
(Amos 5:8)
Who also darkens day into night,
Who calls out for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the surface of the earth,
The LORD is His name.”
God will make a way…..EVERY TIME!!!
God will never lead us astray.
God will bring peace to our soul…ALWAYS.
God will create the EXACT CHANGE NEEDED!!
We live upon this earth for a span of days, for a set time, and then we are no longer here….on earth, but still our soul exists, still we remain within eternity…forever. How will that change occur, how will we move from living here to living there (inside eternity), well, that I just cannot answer, but we can know it is true. We can be assured that God will create the EXACT CHANGE needed within our hearts to keep us secure forevermore.
Truly, we will face so many life-decisions, so many life-altering moments as we live. It’s not maybe, but it’s a fact. And as we do……
Our task is really quite simple. The apostle Paul was inspired to record these words to help us keep sight, to stay focused, and to stay the course.
“Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
(Colossians 3: 1-4)
Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory”
We can know most assuredly that we are saved, that we belong to God.
We can know most assuredly that we are walking on God’s path, walking in His will.
We can know with EXACTNESS.
Today, let us keep our eyes upon our LORD, let us remain within His peace, and let us seek God and the things that are above with Him, as we seek our heavenly Father with all of our being.
