Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Faithfully Be A Sower and See the Lord’s Harvest

Summer has arrived.  Maybe you saw the calendar date or have noticed the length of days and the later setting sun. Possibly, you have even felt the summertime heat.  Despite how we recognize the coming of summer, the season has arrived, and with it comes the LORD’S promise.

In the Bible, we find one of God’s promises: the coming of summer.

“While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
And cold and heat,
And summer and winter,
And day and night
Shall not cease.”

(Genesis 8:22 NASB)

Yesterday, I received a simple photo of a person’s hand holding a small, red tomato:  Harvest.  For the person holding the tomato (the one who sent the photo), this harvest was special, for it was her very first harvest, as in EVER.  This was the produce that came from her first attempt at growing her own vegetables. To state, “She was proud” would be quite the understatement because to this young farmer, the harvest was bountiful. With the arrival of one tiny tomato plucked from a single tomato plant grown inside a pot on the top of a rooftop terrace, we recall God’s promise and are reminded to be thankful.

Thank You, LORD, for Your faithfulness.  Continually, You send rainfall at just the right time, and always You send the perfect amount of sunshine.  With cultivation and care, You cause the tiny seed to germinate and provide the growth and the harvest.  Father, we see Your harvest in the fields, in the plants, in the trees within a forest, and within our lives.  We praise You, God.  Despite what might be occurring in our lives, in our communities, or in the surrounding world, still we are reminded over and over of Your promises.  Seeing one tiny tomato held inside a palm helps us remember.

In God’s Word, we find how God’s promises are bountiful because of our obedience to Him.

“If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments so as to carry them out,
then I shall give you rains in their season, so that the land will yield its produce
and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.”

(Leviticus 26: 3-4 NASB)
  • So, despite the season of life we are walking, we are called to walk in faithfulness to the Father. &
  • Regardless of the struggles we might be experiencing, we are commanded to continue in obedience to God. &
  • No matter what obstacles of suffering may plague our steps, we are reminded of God’s faithfulness BECAUSE He controls the days and the seasons, always remaining eternally faithful. He will bring the harvest & He will bring the summer season.

In Wednesday night Bible study, we were reminded through Scripture that God’s Word NEVER returns void.  We are called to memorize verses, to carry them with us, and to share Jesus when the Holy Spirit prompts us.  As we are faithful, God promises that His Word will not return void but will produce a bountiful harvest. May We Faithfully Be A Sower and See the Lord’s Harvest.

Therefore, our task is really quite simple:  Share Jesus without fear: testifying of our story and telling another how Jesus saved us.

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth
And making it bear and sprout,
And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”

(The Book of Isaiah 55: 10-11 NASB)
