A walk through life toward eternity

The Solution to the Heart Problem

Never stop choosing the one you love because it’s more than the feeling you had on your wedding day.  Those feelings of emotion come and go.  When life gets hard or busy or stressful or frustrating or heavy, love that’s real shows up and catches your breath.  Real love is sitting beside someone, rather than choosing to sit across the room.  Real love is showing the person that they’re still your person, even now, years later.

When opportunities of friction come, and they will, real love does not verbally criticize to others because public criticism does not strengthen love, but destroys it.  Let there be peace and let the love of God be felt through you.

Learn from one another.

Lean into one another.

Kiss when there’s no reason to kiss but to kiss.

Hold hands and be connected by intimacy.

Ask questions and listen to the answers given.

Be curious about how the one you love is changing.

Life can be difficult and can be a struggle.  Love should not be.

Life can bring hardships, storms, and Love can bring wholesome peace and longsuffering and kindness.  The beauty comes in choosing the way you wish to go with the one you love.  Choose the one you love over and over, day-by-day, and moment-after-moment.  If you do, then your love for one another will last.  However, if you do not, then you will become most downtrodden and alone, and that was never the LORD’S PLAN for Mankind.  From the beginning of time:

“Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.
The LORD God commanded the man, saying,
“From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.
Then the LORD God said,
“It is not good for the man to be alone;
I will make him a helper suitable for him.”
. . .
“So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept;
then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.
The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man,

and brought her to the man.
The man said,
“This is now bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife
;
and they shall become one flesh.
And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.”

(Genesis 2: 15-18 & 21-25 NASB)

Man has a heart problem, and the solution is not to seek happiness where it can be found.

The solution to the heart problem is simply:  God’s Hope.

We know this speaks Truth for the Bible shows us so and because we have seen generations of society crushed by the opposite, by the turning to self rather than toward Almighty God. Mankind cannot save anyone, let alone himself (or herself), so we must look up to see WHO DOES & CAN SAVE!  May we never forget—It was God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit who made man(kind) in HIS image and not we who created ourselves.

“Then God said,
“Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; . . . .”

(Genesis 1: 26a NASB)

Since God knew mankind needed work for his hands to do, He provided us a task to accomplish.

“Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.”

Since our Father knew our sinful nature, He provided us a boundary, an opportunity to remain in perfect harmony with Him.

“From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”

Since the LORD knew in His infinite wisdom that man would need suitable companionship, He provided a woman for the first man.

“Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” . . . “So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.”

Since Almighty God knew the fickleness of man’s heart, and since the LORD GOD knew man had a heart problem, He provided the way for man to find earthly happiness, to produce families as God intended, and to find contentment during the days of his life on this earth.

“For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.”

All of these God-ordained events occurred “in the beginning” when God created the heavens and the earth.  From that time, mankind has walked the face of the earth. If it were possible to roll back time, to return to “in the beginning,” then we would not know the world as it is today:  Ugly, Prideful, Selfish, and Sinful.  Nevertheless, we did not remain as God intended, and because Chapter 3 of Genesis exists, we know with assurance of Our Heart Problem.  We know Satan entered the Garden and enticed mankind to sin.

So, maybe you have read to this place and are asking:  How does the beginning of creation, the first man Adam and his wife Eve connect to the opening of this writing?  &  How does the statement:  “Never stop choosing the one you love because it’s more than the feeling you had on your wedding day” connect to God’s purpose?

Over and Over, I am mindfully reminded.  Because those feelings of emotion we experienced forty years ago on our marriage day come and go, and because life does become hard sometimes, and busy, and stressful, and even frustrating and heavy—GOD’S LOVE, AS HE INTENDED, REAL LOVE, SHOWS UP & CATCHES YOUR BREATH.

Yes, real love truly is sitting beside the one you married, rather than choosing to sit across the room from him.

Real love truly becomes showing the one you married that he’s still your person, even now, years later.

Real love truly is continuing to learn from one another and learning to lean on one another.

Real love truly is kissing when there’s really no special reason to kiss and holding hands just to experience the intimacy you share.

Real love truly becomes asking questions and really listening to the answers the other gives, and being curious about how the one you chose is changing—and loving them despite the change.

&

Real life will bring real struggles.

True loving will endure hardships, storms, valleys, and mountaintops.

Love that is true should not come and go but bring wholesome peace that learns from the LORD’S demonstration, teaching us how to be longsuffering, kind, and loving.

When opportunities of friction come, and they will, real love should not verbally criticize the one you have chosen because that’s Satan’s way to destruction.

Let there be peace and let it be felt through you.

The beauty of marriage comes in choosing the way you wish to go with the one you love, deciding to choose the one you love over and over, day-by-day, and moment-after-moment.

We are called to love the LORD first and foremost.

“Jesus answered,
“The foremost is, ‘HEAR, O ISRAEL!  THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD; AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’
The second is this, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’
There is no other commandment greater than these.”

(The Gospel According to Mark 12: 29-31 NASB)

Today’s writing is for me (and hopefully for you, as well).  If we learn to love those the LORD has given us (our neighbors), to love on this earth those we have wedded in holy matrimony, then our love for one another will last.

From the beginning, this was the LORD’S PLAN (the Holy Trinity) for Man and Woman.
