Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Children “who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God”

It’s not difficult to look at children, to see “whose” they belong to, to see “whose” they are.

We see the way children turn their heads and gaze, seeing their daddy’s same mannerism.  We see the color of their eyes and see the same hue in their mommy’s eyes and maybe even their nan’s and their maternal granddad’s.  It’s so amazing to see generational traits coming forth in a child just beginning life. As the little ones grow, they will begin to “act” like their parents (in both the good ways and the bad), and they will even speak the same words as those surrounding them speak (again, both the good and the bad).  So, we attempt to surround our little ones with good interactions, with a growth mindset, striving to “grow them up” in the way they are to go.  The other day, I listened through the closed door as my daughter sang “Jesus Loves Me” to her little boy, and this small action made my heart sing.

When we think of our sons and daughters, of the way they are mothers and fathers to their children, we see generational teachings, heritage arising and continuing, and we see the presence of God.  As we see this occurrence in our normal lives, it causes us to turn to the Holy Scriptures and see the way God sees His redeemed ones—His children.

“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 8: 14 NASB)

Therefore, one questions all children of God should ask themselves:  Are we living according to God’s Word?

  • How we live our lives demonstrates “WHOSE” we are.
  • How we walk in obedience to the Father shows to the watching world “WHOSE” we are.
  • How we daily practice God’s commandments and walk with His indwelling Holy Spirit reveals “WHOSE” we are.

May we who have accepted Jesus Christ into our hearts, who have believed in His work on the cross and in the grave, & who have confessed our sins, receiving God’s free gift of salvation—Walk in Faithfulness, in Obedience, and Live for Him.

“So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh—for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die;
but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba!  Father!”
The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 8: 12-17 NASB)
