A walk through life toward eternity

Sinners in need of a Savior

“For we know that the Law is spiritual,
but I am of flesh,
sold into bondage to sin.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 7: 14 NAS)
  • Do we ever do things we just do not understand why we are doing them?
  • Have we ever committed an action, “doing the very thing” we hate?
  • Do we ever act and then scratch our heads, thinking:  Now why did I do that?

Quite possibly, we need to remember the original fall of man.

“So now,
no longer am I the one doing it,
but sin which dwells in me.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 7: 17 NAS)

The flesh is not good in itself, even though we like to think of ourselves as ‘good’ people.  Truly, we are not good, for those ‘good’ things we could do, we don’t do, & those ‘evil’ things we do not wish to do, we do anyway.  Why do we do that?

Quite possibly, we need to remember the original fall of man recorded in Genesis, for it was the beginning of humanity’s fall from grace.  From the beginning, we desperately needed a Savior, but we only had the Law separating the ‘Good’ from everything else.

We do not wish to admit it, but we are sinners by birth.  The Bible tells us so!  We have a grandson, a precious little one.  Perfect in every way, and beautiful too.  Maybe you too have a child or a grandchild, and as difficult as it is to recognize, to admit, their tiny bodies were conceived to be that which we must recognize. Every Person Alive, We Each Are from our Birth—Sinners in need of a Savior.

“Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.”
[But Praise God’s Goodness!]
Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being,
[Praise God for the innate desire to know Him!
Thank You, God, for putting this deep inside every person alive!]
And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom.”

(The Psalms 51: 5-6 NAS)

By choice, we sin.  By practice, we sin.

We are born into it, and we choose to continue to walk within it.

Throughout each day of our lives, we elect to tell lies, to covet what others have, to allow outbursts of anger, to react in unkind ways, to not help others, to not serve them—to sin.

&

Throughout each week, month, and year, we practice our sinful behavior, becoming better at the act of sinfulness.  Each time we yield to our sinful nature, then the easier it becomes—to sin.  This action (of sin) does not begin when a person does something wrong; it begins when the idea takes root in our heart.  We choose to entertain the idea, toy with it, contemplate it, and then be carried away by it—SIN.

We are lustful, jealous, prideful, hateful, and we cover it up with deceitful actions, attempting to ‘show’ the world how ‘good’ we are.  Really we are not—good at all.  Once this temptation—to sin is enticed, and once it has been conceived deep within us, then it gives birth, and it accomplishes what SIN can only bring—DEATH & SEPARATION FROM GOD.

The Bible tells us so!

“But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.
Then when lust has conceived;
it gives birth to sin;
and when sin is accomplished,
it brings forth death.”

(The Letter of James 1: 14-15 NAS)
  • We do not wish to admit it, but we are wretched.
  • We do not like to proclaim it so, but we are sinful from the moment we are conceived.

We do not hurry to raise our hands whenever the question comes:  Raise your hand if you are a sinner.  Truly, our hands stay at our sides as we conjure up all the ‘good’ deeds we have done inside our minds.  Yes, we (the peoples of the earth) are Sinners in need of a Savior.

The Bible tells us so!

“Wretched man that I am!
Who will set me free from the body of this death?”

[Hallelujah]
“Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! . . .”

(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 7: 24-25a NAS)

GOD IS HUGE!

HE HOLDS THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE IN THE PALM OF HIS ENORMOUS HANDS!

GOD LOVES US TOO MUCH TO LEAVE US AS WE ARESinners in need of a Savior.

  • The grace of God’s riches came at the cost, the expense of Jesus.
  • The law has done its job; the law points us (mankind) to Jesus.
  • The Father offers us His salvation, His redemption, His justification, His forgiveness—through His only Son, the SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST!

It is the only way, for mankind to receive God’s grace.

It is the only way, for we are truly Sinners in need of a Savior.

“But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin,
so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed.

[the apostle Paul speaks of the Savior Jesus Christ]
Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ,
so that we may be justified by faith.
But now that faith has come,
we are no longer under a tutor.

[Thank you, God, for sending us a Savior]
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Galatians 3: 22-27 NAS)
