Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Homesick & Living on Borrowed Time

“Oh give thanks to the LORD,
call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples.
Sing to Him,
sing praises to Him;
Speak of all His wonders.

Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart
of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Seek the LORD and His strength;
Seek His face continually.
Remember His wonderful deeds which He has done,
His marvels and the judgments from His mouth.”

(The 1st Book of the Chronicles 16: 8-12 NASB)

Here we sit in the twelfth month of the two thousandth and twenty-fourth year.  Within all that time, we have lived within, many deeds have transpired.  During this season of Advent, while our focus primarily rests upon the coming of the Messiah, the babe in the manger, the coming of God in the flesh—the coming of Jesus—would it not be best if we make a PRAISE list?

If you agree, let us begin to mark down all the miracles the LORD has done and let us “give thanks to the LORD,” for everything.

Thank You, LORD—

  • Last night, I slept pain-free.
  • This morning, the LORD awoke me early with twinkling Christmas lights in my eyes.
  • This morning, the LORD has given me space to study the Bible, His Word.
  • This year, He blessed my body with healing for my back, &
  • He has allowed me to walk again, free from the steps of pain.
  • YOU have given me opportunities to hug others throughout this year.
  • This season of life, You have given to us so many to love.

Thank You, GOD—

  • YOU have brought children into our lives this year &
  • You reveal others who are on their way, to be born in this coming year.

Thank You, Father—

  • When we look at all God has done,
  • When we look at all God is, &
  • When we look at all that God offers to us

We find ourselves lifting our hands high above our heads, twirling and dancing, praising and worshipping!

Rejoice in the Lord always;
again I will say, rejoice!
Let your gentle spirit be known to all men.
The Lord is near.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Philippians 4: 4-5 NASB)

Father,

We praise Your beautiful name. We worship You & We desire nothing else but YOU, for we are Homesick & Living on Borrowed Time.  This best describes Your children, LORD.  In this season of Advent, when our eyes see the image of the babe in the manger, we find that we do not wish death, but we do wish to be present with YOU.  We desire to be home.  Father, thank You for giving to us Your life-wish as You have filled us with Your Holy Spirit, and we feel the overflowing miracle of You today.  We rejoice in You for we know—Lord, You are near to us.  WE THANK YOU, FATHER.  We pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thank You, God, for miraculous blessings You have provided—

  • For marvelous wonders only You can do.
  • For sending Your Only Begotten Son.
  • For Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross & for His wonderful resurrection.
  • For giving to Your eternal life to those who believe in Jesus.

We sing praises to YOU—

  • We are given the opportunity to climb right into God’s lap, to feel His arms wrap around us.
  • We can moment-by-moment bring our prayer concerns to You, whispering them, even groaning them when our words will not come.
  • We know without a doubt that nothing is too small for You, LORD, for Your Holy Word proclaims it so.
  • We do not fully understand how You untangle the ‘knots’ of our lives when we allow You to take them into Your mighty hands.
  • We fully acknowledge our smallness LORD, standing next to Your greatness & majesty.

Finally, LORD GOD, CREATOR, SAVIOR and REDEEMER, the MESSIAH, the SACRIFICIAL LAMB—JESUS CHRIST—we proclaim how our priorities, our choices, our way of life, and our devotion is fully focused upon YOU!

“Middle of a Miracle” performed by Emerson Day sings all that I am feeling this day.  Pause to listen, to be reminded:  “You don’t see it but you’re right in the middle of a miracle. . . . You can’t feel it but under your feet, the roots are taking hold. . . . Don’t forget that with God all things are possible. . . . Before 5,000 were fed, there was just one basket. . . . If there was ever going to be light, there had to be darkness. . . . Before there was ever an empty tomb, there was a cross first. . . . Don’t forget that with God all things are possible. . . . We have a future cause He has a plan. . . . He’s got you; Your still in His hands.”

So today, LORD, we worship YOU & sing praises to YOU!

May we seek to live the Christian life as God intended:

  • Right thinking &
  • Right Speaking &
  • Right Praying &
  • Right Actions—as the PEACE of GOD guards our hearts and minds in JESUS.

Father,

We recognize all You have accomplished & We are Homesick & We are Living on Borrowed Time.

“Let the heavens be glad,
and let the earth rejoice;
Let the sea roar, and all it contains;
Let the field exult, and all that is in it.
Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy.
Before the LORD, for He is coming,
For He is coming         to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
And the peoples in His faithfulness.”

(The Psalms 96: 11-13 NASB)
