A walk through life toward eternity

Seed Sowers & Waterers of the Tender Plants—That’s Our Role

JESUS said to the Believers:

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him;
and I will raise him up on the last day.”
. . .
“Truly, truly, I say to you,
he who believes has eternal life.”

(The Gospel According to John 6: 44 & 47 NASB)

The Jews were grumbling that day, saying:  “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know?”  They struggled to believe Jesus was anything other than the young boy they knew who grew up in the carpenter’s home in Nazareth.  The Jews scratched their heads and pondered:  “How does He now say, ‘I have come down out of heaven’?”

We live in a current world where people refuse to see Jesus as the Messiah, as the Savior sent by God.  This was true in the day when the Son of God walked upon the earth, just as it remains true today.  People still refuse to see the truth—

GOD’S SALVATION IS A GIFT OF GOD’S GRACE!

  • If you are a believer (as I am), today we are reminded of our task—to witness & testify of God’s amazing gift of salvation.
  • If you are a believer (as I am), today we are reminded of our task & of God’s role—

We witness & God saves a person from the eternal abyss of hell.

  • May we be on our knees, pleading for those who remain lost, trapped by the lies of Satan.
  • May we be on our knees, asking God to send His conviction to their souls, to open their eyes, to prepare their hearts, to send His Holy Spirit who will draw them to GOD’S SAVING GRACE.

Jesus spoke of this ‘coming’ when he spoke with His disciples about their work within the world.

“And He, when He comes,

[Jesus speaks of the HOLY SPIRIT]

will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;

  • concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me;
  • and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me;
  • and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.”

(The Gospel According to John 16: 8-11 NASB)

  • Seed Sowers & Waterers of the Tender Plants—That’s Our Role.
  • Sharing the gospel & Testifying about how Jesus changed us—That’s Our Role.

Truly, it is ‘FREEING’ to realize that we are not in charge of any person’s salvation because if we were in charge, then our emotions, our words, and our human actions would so mess up something that God has created to be so wonderfully beautiful.

Thank goodness—

We are instructed within the Bible to know ‘our role’ & to know ‘God’s role’ in a person’s salvation experience.

  • We are called to testify what we have SEEN & EXPERIENCED & KNOW TO BE TRUE.

This is the task the Lord Jesus Christ gave to all who believe in Him.

  • We are called to BRING & to SHARE the GOSPEL with those we encounter.

This is the task the Lord Jesus Christ gave to all who have received His gift of salvation.

  • We are NOT called to MAKE anyone believe.
  • We are NOT called to SAVE a single person.

Seed Sowers & Waterers of the Tender Plants—That’s Our Role.

Yes, truly, it is ‘FREEING’ to realize that we are not in charge of any person’s salvation.

“So then neither the one who plants
nor the one who waters is anything,
but God who causes the growth.
Now he who plants and he who waters are one;
but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
For we are God’s fellow workers;
you are God’s field,
God’s building.”

(The First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 3: 7-9 NASB)
