A walk through life toward eternity

‘I, Me, & My’ NO Longer Exists—Once ‘I’ Believe in JESUS!

“Jesus answered and said to him,
[Judas (not Iscariot)]
“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word;
and My Father will love him,
and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.”

(The Gospel According to John 14: 23 NASB)

Let’s be ‘Radical’ here.  If we believe in Jesus, then we are not of this world.

Do we fully believe this radical statement?

Really, Do you believe that you believe that you believe—the words of Jesus?

Truly, I am asking myself this same question:  Do I believe that I believe that I believe—the words of Jesus?

On the day when Jesus spoke these words, He was preparing His chosen disciples for the day when He would leave earth and return to heaven.  Jesus knew His disciples would feel alone in this world without His presence, and so Jesus spoke of His Holy Spirit who God would send, who would take up residence inside them.

“Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me?
The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative,
but the Father abiding in Me does His works.
Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me;
otherwise believe because of the works themselves.
Truly, truly,
[Listen, Listen]
I say to you,
he who believes in Me,
the works that I do,
he will do also;
and greater works than these he will do;
because I go to the Father.”

(The Gospel According to John 14: 10-12 NASB)
  • THE ETERNAL LIFE OF JESUS LIVES IN US WHO BELIEVE!
  • THE POWER OF GOD IS ALIVE IN US WHO BELIEVE!
  • THE WONDER-WORKING POWER OF GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT DWELLS WITHIN US WHO BELIEVE!

‘We’ who believe in Jesus are to be people who OBEY GOD’S PERFECT WILL!

Jesus commands that we live today, as if we are leaving (this world) today, as though we are going home to heaven—today.

Miraculously, there is a deep peace that overcomes us when we know Jesus as our Savior, when we really believe in Him.

  • ‘You’ become WE—because JESUS IS ALIVE IN YOU!
  • ‘I’ become WE—because JESUS IS ALIVE IN ME!

JESUS becomes our SAVIOR!

WE become GOD’S!

THE HOLY SPIRIT becomes part of US!

‘I, Me, & My’ NO Longer Exists—Once ‘I’ Believe in JESUS!

“Truly, Truly, I say to you,
he who believes in Me,
the works that I do,
he will do also;
and greater works than these he will do;
because I go to the Father.”

(The Gospel According to John 14: 12 NASB)

Once a person BELIEVES in JESUS, then ‘You’ & ‘I’ now have ‘HIM’ living inside ‘US’!

Radical Right?!!!

Now, I am not a Boy Scout, for one because I am a female, and since I am not a male Boy Scout, I do not really know how to tie ropes, primarily because I was never trained.  Nevertheless, I do understand the strength found in types of ropes.  For example, in my hatch of my vehicle, I carry a yellow rope, one that is thin in its texture (a 1-cord thick rope).  However, my husband, on the other hand, is a retired Navy man who owns several ropes, heavy ropes.  He stores his ropes in his garage, the heavy, thick ropes, those that are greater, stronger, and more durable—2-cord & 3-cord in thickness.

  • So, if we were to go to the lake and tie our boat (the one we had years ago), we may not use a 1-cord thick rope to tie our boat to the dock but a rope of 2-cord thickness.
  • Also, if we were to tow a tractor behind another tractor (as we have done in the past), we may not use a 2-cord thick rope to tow but a rope of 3-cord thickness.

Why is that?

Why do we require thicker ropes for differing tasks?

It is because the TRUTH of what we are doing requires greater strength.

“Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor.
For if either of them falls,
the one will life up his companion.
But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up.
Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm,
but how can one be warm alone?
And if one can overpower him who is alone,
two can resist him.
A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.”

(The Book of Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12 NASB)
  • The Love of God brings REAL TRANSFORMATION.
  • The Love of God brings POWERFUL TRANSFORMATION.
  • The Salvation of God PERMEATES OUR BEING BECAUSE ‘I’ BECOMES ‘WE’—WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT OF JESUS TAKES UP RESIDENCE IN ‘YOU’ & ‘ME.’

“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word;
and My Father will love him,
and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.”

(The Gospel According to John 14: 23B NASB)

This love from God shapes us, molding us, into the people who do not live for this world.  We live for eternity, for heaven, for our eternal home.  The world looks at us as strange, peculiar, and just downright odd, but that’s okay.  This is what the Bible says we should strive to be.

May we tell the world of those surrounding us how ‘I, Me, & My’ NO Longer Exists—Once ‘I’ Believe in JESUS!
