Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Do Something Today!

“As a result of the anguish of His soul,
He will see it and be satisfied;
By His knowledge the Righteous One,
My Servant,
will justify the many,
As He will bear their iniquities.”

(The Book of Isaiah 53: 11 NASB)

The room was filled with people, and the various languages were heard across the room.  I had arrived before my lunch-party, so I walked through the crowd to the cafeteria line, where I collected my food of choice.  There were many rectangular tables to choose, but I wanted a more intimate one, so I moved to take my seat at a round table.

I bowed to pray, thanking God for my food and for my lunch visit that He had provided.  Then I glanced at the clock hanging on the wall and was assured:  There remained plenty of time.

  • For lunch.
  • For conversation.
  • For laughter.
  • For sharing life.
  • For a Gospel witness.

Ten minutes later, they arrived—my lunch companions.  University students.

  • Some had taken English class with me and some were friends of my former students.
  • Some had come to our home for a long weekend & some were friends of the house-guests.

All four students had arrived for our previously arranged lunch-date, one that held such promise.  “Help me, God,” was my prayer as they were about to meet the Savior Jesus—through me.

WHAT IS IT THAT WE CANNOT DO?

  • We cannot earn our passage.
  • We cannot perform enough good actions to purchase a ticket there.
  • We cannot (ever) make ourselves good enough to become—RIGHT with GOD.
  • We cannot be born on this earth any other way than be born—100% totally LOST!
  • We cannot ‘hope’ to do enough, be enough, or say enough to save ourselves, for if we do not know Jesus as our Savior—We are completely WITHOUT HOPE!
  • We cannot get to heaven any other way than through JESUS!

When our earthly life is over, WITHOUT THE FORGIVENESS OF JESUS—WE WILL DIE APART—SEPARATED from GOD for Eternity!

BUT—

PRAISE ALMIGHTY GOD!

THROUGH the SHED BLOOD of JESUS CHRIST, the MESSIAH—

  • Through Him, we are forgiven.
  • Through Him, we are brought into an intimate relationship with Father God.
  • Through Him, we are given everything we will ever need to live eternally with Jesus.

The prophet Isaiah proclaimed the GOSPEL TRUTH—

“As a result of the anguish of His soul,

He will see it and be satisfied; . . .”

  • Only through the anguish of Jesus on the cross, could the payment for sins be made!
  • Only through the suffering of Jesus on the cross, would the atoning sacrifice to God be accepted!
  • Only through Jesus Christ was God satisfied!

“By His knowledge the Righteous One,

My Servant, will justify the many,”

  • Jesus Christ is the Righteous One!
  • Jesus Christ is the Suffering Servant of God!

“As He will bear their iniquities.”

  • Our Savior accomplished all that was necessary!
  • The Messiah did everything that was required upon Calvary’s cross!

Therefore, we may find ourselves going throughout our earthly days, ‘doing’ so many tasks.

  • We may be coaching a community T-ball team filled with four and five-year-olds.
  • We may be managing a team of colleagues at the office.
  • We may be sharing time with friends.
  • We may be teaching students in a classroom.
  • We may be eating lunch in the university cafeteria.
  • We may be raising our children.
  • We may be sitting across the dinner table each night.
  • We may be driving a delivery vehicle.
  • We may be an associate in an establishment or a waitress juggling ten tables.
  • We may be leading a high school filled with teenagers.
  • We may be caring for a sick loved one or an aging parent.
  • We may even be the preacher at the local church preaching sermons & shepherding a congregation.
  • Truly, we may be the last person someone shares today with before they face their eternity!

Whatever we find ourselves doing  &

Wherever we find ourselvesMay We Do Something Today!

Take the message of the Gospel into OUR world today, for the world of people surrounding us are dying without Jesus Christ!

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ,
as though God were making an appeal through us;
we beg you on behalf of Christ,
be reconciled to God.”

(The Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 5: 20 NASB)
