A walk through life toward eternity

The Promises Found Within LOVE

“Love is patient,
love is kind and is not jealous;
love does not brag and is not arrogant,
does not act unbecomingly;
it does not seek its own,
it is not provoked,
does not take into account a wrong suffered,
does not rejoice in unrighteousness,
but rejoices with the truth;”

(The First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 13: 4-6 NASB)

Many days have passed since I met a beautiful, godly woman on a plane, a precious lady God placed in the seat beside me.  Today, she and I have been speaking together through WhatsApp since she lives there (in her home country) & I live here (in mine).

As we talked, we rejoiced for the daughters the LORD has given to us to love.  She reminded me today:  Children are not ours; they belong to God.

What a beautiful reminder she has provided.

When we have LOVE truly in our hearts—

  • We will see our children as Jesus Christ sees them.
  • We will not count the pain, the disappointments, but we will keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus.

The Son of God is the One who is ahead of us, prompting us to follow Him, to lay our burdens at His feet & to leave our burdens there—at the foot of the cross of Jesus Christ.

“Love is patient, . . .”

We struggle to be patient with others, but as we strive to be more like Jesus, with God’s help, we can seek patience.

“love is kind and is not jealous; . . .”

This is often difficult because we often want what we want & when we want it, but the children of God must continually be kindhearted and not be jealous of others, but content.

“love does not brag and is not arrogant, . . .”

Now, I am not sure if you struggle with this, but so often Believers do (struggle to not boast).

May our prayer be:  ‘LORD, help us to listen more and to speak less.  Help us remember—Holiness is about God and not ever about us.’

“[LOVE] does not act unbecomingly;
it does not seek its own,
it is not provoked,
does not take into account a wrong suffered, . . .”

(The First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 13: 5 NASB)

These verses tell us how we are to forgive others & to forget the way they try to harm our name, our person, or our character.  We cannot allow ourselves to become provoked by the actions of others. We must not hold their actions against them.

If we do, then we are responding, as led by the devil rather than as a Redeemed one led by the Holy Spirit of God.

Never, must we seek to respond as Satan desires, but when we find ourselves doing just that, we must get on our knees & pray, seeking the forgiveness of God.

We must love others as Jesus loves them!

“[LOVE] does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;”

Truly, this is what we desire most—that others will come to know Jesus as their Savior & Lord.

The LOVE of GOD really is so beautiful.

Today as this friend and I spoke about GOD’S LOVE, she reminded me:  I must recall how it was my sins and her sins and the sins of mankind that placed the Son of God on the cross of Calvary—to die, to willingly give His life.  We have the PEACE of GOD deep within us only through what JESUS has already done on the cross and in the tomb for each one of us!

We can only become a son or daughter of the Most-High God because:

JESUS RESURRECTED FROM THE GRAVE TO NEW LIFE!

  • The Promises Found Within GOD’S LOVE bind us, secure us, & sustain us.
  • The Promises Found Within GOD’S LOVE are the whole TRUTH!
  • May we ‘live out’ the LOVE of GOD as we strive to LOVE others better—to LOVE them as JESUS LOVES!
