Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

We Who Know—Are We Going?  Are We Telling?

“Opening his mouth, Peter said:
“I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality,
[Hallelujah!  For by God’s Amazing Grace we who believe are saved!]

but in every nation the man who fears Him
and does what is right
is welcome to Him.
The word which He sent to the sons of Israel,
preaching peace through Jesus Christ
(He is Lord of all)—
you yourselves know . . .”

(The Acts of the Apostles 10: 34-37a NASB)

Anna B. Warner & David R. McGuire wrote these lyrical verses in 1860 & in 1862, William B. Bradbury composed the refrain.  In researching the melody, I found several languages—all displaying this same song—in a diversity of languages.  Jesus Loves Me.  Such a simple concept.  Such an amazing and undeserving fact.

Verse 1—“Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak,
but He is strong.”

Refrain:
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Verse 2—“Jesus loves me! This I know,
As He loved so long ago,
Taking children on His knee,
Saying,
“Let them come to Me.”

Verse 3—“Jesus loves me still today,
Walking with me on my way,
Wanting as a friend to give

Light and love to all who live.”

Verse 4—“Jesus loves me! He who died
Heaven’s gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His
little child come in.”

Verse 5—“Jesus loves me! He will stay
Close beside me all the way;
Thou hast bled and died for me,
I will henceforth live for Thee.”

“Jesus Loves Me”

Since I was a small child growing up on an Indiana farm, these words have been sung in my presence, with me, to me, and over me.  These precious words sunk deep within my being.

When our daughter was born, I found myself rocking her and singing those same words of this most precious melody to her and over her, praying these precious words would sink deep into her being.

Today, as I sing this melody, I ask myself:

We Who Know—Are We Going?  Are We Telling the world?

Jesus loves Me!  This I know,
For the Bible tells me so!

When Peter was preaching at Caesarea, he spoke of the fact that we love, honor, fear, and serve Almighty God, One who shows no impartiality in who He invites to become His child.  Peter also reminded us that God’s promise to Abraham centuries before remained true—he would be the father to many nations, and Thank You, God, I am one of those many nations God sent Jesus to earth to save.

“you yourselves know the thing which took place throughout all Judea,
starting from Galilee,
 after the baptism which John proclaimed.”

[Peter spoke of Jesus’ baptism by John in the Jordan]

“You know of Jesus of Nazareth,
how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power,
and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil,
for God was with Him.”

[Peter spoke of Jesus’ three-year ministry on earth, when Jesus, the Son of God,
walked in the flesh as the son of man
]

“We are witnesses of all the things He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem.
They also put Him to death by hanging Him on a cross.”

[Peter reminded those listening of just exactly what Jesus did for each one of us]

“God raised Him up on the third day and granted that He become visible,
not to all the people,
but to witnesses who were chosen beforehand by God,
that is, to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.
And He ordered us to preach to the people,
and solemnly to testify
that this is
the One
who has been
appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead.
Of Him all the prophets bear witness
that
through His name
everyone who believes in Him
receives forgiveness of sins.”

(The Acts of the Apostles 10: 37-43 NASB)

As children, we can understand the TRUTH!

It baffles me how people lose their innocent, child-like ability to BELIEVE in JESUS as they age.

Truly, the world needs to become more child-like in their ACCEPTANCE & BELIEF of the SAVIOR JESUS!

Amazingly, God’s Amazing Grace comes to ALL who Accept Jesus, Believe in His Resurrection from the dead & Confess their sins!

We who know—need to be testifying, telling the world surrounding us—

JESUS LOVES YOU & ME!

WE KNOW—BECAUSE THE BIBLE TELLS US SO!

& GOD CANNOT LIE!
