Just So We Know (You & I & Every Person on Earth)
“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens,
(The Letter to the Hebrews 4: 14-16 NASB)
Jesus the Son of God,
let us hold fast our confession.
For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses,
but One who has been tempted in all things as we are,
yet without sin.
Therefore
let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace,
so that we may receive mercy and
[so that we may also] find grace to help in time of need.”
Late last night, after I had laid down for a time of rest, a text message came to my phone, one that I did not see until I arose a few hours later. The message began with these words: “I hope I don’t wake you.”
- It is a beautiful thought to know that another has trusted you with a prayer concern.
Please allow yourself to re-read that statement, as we ponder the magnitude of the POWER of PRAYER.
- It is a beautiful thought to know that another has trusted you with a prayer concern.
The burdens of life can become overwhelmingly heavy in a matter of seconds.
There are so many reasons—WE NEED TO PRAY!
WE PRAY FOR—
- A concern in our health.
- A sudden trial in our daily work.
- A child experiences a heavy trial.
- A pastor seems weary in his role as the under-shepherd as he leads the church.
- A financial need.
- A struggle within our day-to-day work.
- Those we love & even those we barely know.
“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens,
(The Letter to the Hebrews 4: 14 NASB)
Jesus the Son of God,
let us hold fast our confession.”
WE BOW OUR HEADS, LIFTING UP TO OUR FATHER—
- A prayer for relief from the cancer raging within our body.
- A prayer for our pain to be lessened.
- A prayer for the missionaries serving domestically or across the globe.
- A prayer for our world leaders, our nation, our city, and even our community leaders.
- A prayer for our church, that we would serve our community as the Spirit leads.
“For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses,
(The Letter to the Hebrews 4: 15 NASB)
but One who has been tempted in all things as we are,
yet without sin.”
ALMIGHTY GOD HEARS OUR CRY, AS WE VOICE—
- A prayer for the mercy of God.
- A prayer for God’s Salvation.
“Therefore
(The Letter to the Hebrews 4: 16 NASB)
let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace,
so that
we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

SO TODAY, WHAT—
- What are you praying for today?
- What life-situation are we lifting to God this morning?
- What change in life are we facing that we need to lift in prayer?
- What fear consumes our heart?
WHAT BURDEN WEIGHS US DOWN SO HEAVILY & WE KNOW WE CAN NO LONGER CARRY IT ALL ALONE?
AND WHO—
Who are you asking to help you carry your concern, promising to lift your prayer to God?
Who will you trust with your deepest prayer need?
WHO ANSWERS ALL PRAYER?
OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN DOES!
WHEN IS THERE EVER A TIME TO NOT PRAY?—
Whenever would be a time when a person should CHOOSE NOT TO PRAY??
Whenever a trial comes—Should we PRAY?
As our prayer is answered (& it will be answered)—SHOULD WE OFFER PRAISE & THANKSGIVING?
WHERE MUST WE GO TO PRAY—
Where do we find ourselves as we cry out to the Father?
Where do we go to find solace?
IS THERE EVER A PLACE WHERE WE ARE TOO FAR AWAY FROM GOD TO PRAY?
We find that we can pray anywhere & everywhere we may be.
WHY SHOULD WE PRAY FOR OTHERS, INTERCEDING TO GOD ON THEIR BEHALF?—
Why must we trust?
Why must we have faith?
WHY WOULD WE EVER NOT PRAY?
TRULY, THERE IS NEVER A TIME WHEN WE SHOULD NOT PRAY!
- Jesus is perfect in His role as our High Priest!
- Jesus is the Son of man & the Son of God, both flesh and divine, the incarnate!
- Jesus understands!
- Jesus sympathizes with us!
- Jesus has empathy for our needs because he has experienced every temptation from the devil!
- Jesus reveals over & over His compassion for us!
Truly, there is NEVER a situation, a circumstance, a burden, a concern, a need, a reason when we should not turn to our Savior, our Redeemer, to the Messiah in prayer!
WE LIFT OUR HANDS & OUR HEARTS AS WE PRAY—
- A prayer of thankfulness, as we thank God for meeting our daily needs.
- A prayer of thanksgiving for the food we are about to eat.
- A prayer of praise for the way God has answered our prayers.
May we not ever try to do life alone—NOR
May we not even try to walk through life as a solo Christian—BECAUSE
We need one another. We need community.
We need the Savior!
We need GOD!
We need GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT guiding our steps!
