Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

DOING ALL WE POSSIBLY CAN DO….for THEM……in “HIS” POWER.

Sheltering them from their storms.

Comforting them during their trials.

Standing in the gap for & fighting against whatever their enemy brings to them.

Running toward them with our arms fully wide, knowing that we will embrace them as soon as we touch.

Protecting others will ALL our might.

That may be ALL we have the power to do…..in our own might.
AND…..If that’s ALL WE CAN DO for the “others” in this world, for those we have met on our journey of life, then we would be doing (at least)…..SOMETHING GOOD, but that Something Good……would not be enough (if we did all the good we could do….in OUR own might).

“WHY NOT?” we might question in our loudest voice.

It is because (as a believer, as a child of the most holy God), we are commanded to DO MORE.We are to give them Shelter—-We are to bring them Comfort—-We are to Stand in the gap for them—-We are to Run toward them with our arms open wide—We are to pray, asking God to Protect them.Yes, those actions are so important in this world (and in this time we are living)——-we are commanded to DO SO MUCH MORE than just stand and watch!!!!

Yes, SO MUCH MORE!!!
Yesterday, we barely escaped a horrible car crash. The optimal words here are the words ‘barely escaped’ because “Thank You, God,” we ‘escaped’ to live to another day.  For a long (a forevermore long second), our Subaru skidded toward the back of a gold-colored, large work truck on the roadway, as the truck’s brake lights screamed to us, “STOP!!!!!”  There was NO WAY we would stop in time!!! We were going to slam into the back of this truck!!! Then I saw the small gap to the left; there it was, a small window of safety.  So, I whipped the steering wheel left—-to escape (in my might)—–and suddenly I realized that a concrete wall was now running toward me.  (I never knew concrete could move, but there it was……….coming straight toward the front of our vehicle). AND THEN,…….I knew we may not escape. BECAUSE THEN,…….I saw the vehicle BEHIND us in the rearview mirror speeding right toward us, &  WE KNEW when they reached us, we would be sandwiched between the concrete wall & their vehicle, with no escape.

  • We needed a divine intervention!!!!
  • We needed God’s Shelter.We needed God’s Comfort.
  • We needed God’s Shield to keep us safe.
  • We needed God to Stand in the Gap (between the concrete and us AND between the vehicle racing toward us and the back of our Subaru).
  • We needed God.
  • We needed God’s wide-open arms embracing us.
  • We needed God’s Protection.
  • We needed God’s Power to keep us safe.

We did ALL that we knew to do (in that forevermore long second). We ran toward Him.We cried out to Him.We tried to not be afraid. We tried our best to not be scared.WE TRIED (in our might) TO DO ALL THAT WE KNEW TO DO, BECAUSE OUR MIGHT WAS NOT ENOUGH,BUT THE POWER AND MIGHT OF GOD WAS (ALWAYS ENOUGH)!!!!!
WE NEEDED GOD’S HELP   &   GOD PROVIDED !!!
THAT IS ALL GOD ASKS OF US (of HIS children, of believers, of us).

In the Bible, we are told how the apostle Paul knew something about the word “trouble” because Paul faced TROUBLE in almost every place he visited during his life ministry.  Yes, Paul understood how little he could do and HOW MUCH ALMIGHTY COULD DO!!!
Inspired by God, Paul wrote these words that we find in the Bible, in his letter written to the believers living in Ephesus.

“Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE (of you) WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one another. BE ANGRY, AND YET DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity. He who steals must steal no longer, but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need” (Ephesians 4: 25-28).
There it is; our command, given by God to us, told to us by Paul’s writing, given to us through the inspired Word of God….the Bible…..God’s Word to Humanity.

Sheltering them from their storms AS WE “SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE (of you) WITH HIS NEIGHBOR.”

Comforting them during their trials AS WE “laying aside [all this world’s] falsehood.”

Standing in the gap for & fighting against whatever their enemy brings to them AS WE “do not give the devil an opportunity. [to mislead them with his lies].”

Running toward them with our arms fully wide, (just as Jesus teaches us to do) ready to embrace them as soon as we touch AS WE perform with [our] own hands what is good, so that we [BELIEVERS IN GOD] will have something to share with one [our neighbor] who has need.”

Protecting others “AS [we are] ANGRY [at the way the devil has misled them] & YET DO NOT SIN;

AS WE DO ALL WE POSSIBLY CAN (for THEM)……IN THE POWER…..OF GOD……IN HIS MIGHT.
