Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

In the beginning—GOD!

Yesterday, as I made my way around the sanctuary, greeting those who were present in attendance at church, I encountered this precious young boy, one enamored with the solar system.  He could not talk quick enough to say all that he had memorized about the planets & the heavens.  As he sat there between his two parents, he squirmed as he spoke about what he had learned, and I began to think about our Father, Who is the Creator of EVERYTHING!

There is certain phraseology that brings us immense comfort.

In the beginning—GOD!

“For he rescued us from the domain of darkness,

and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,

in whom we have redemption,

the forgiveness of sins.

He is the image of the invisible God,

the firstborn of all creation.

For by Him all things were created,

both in the heavens and on earth,

visible and invisible,

whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—

all things have been created through Him and for Him.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Colossians 1: 13-16 NASB)

It’s imperative that we know where we came from, and the ‘where’ certainly can be summed up with just one solitary word—GOD!

Consider what the psalmist wrote:

“Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.

Before the mountains were born

Or You gave birth to the earth and the world,

Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.”

(Psalm 90: 1-2 NASB)

&

Observe what David wrote when considering the essence of the Almighty & his concern for His creation—

“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,

The moon and the stars, which You have ordained;

What is man that You take thought of him,

And the son of man that You care for him.”

(Psalm 8: 3-4 NASB)

God can always find us in the ordinary parts of creation to remind us how great God is, & when we become in awe of WHO GOD IS, then we begin to focus less on our present situations, concerns, and human-thoughts as we sing praises to our God of Hope.

For we only need to look to the sky, to the forests, to the solar system, to night & day—to SEE GOD.

As we drive down the road today, heading to work, seeing the sunrise, maybe beginning the day while darkness still covers the world where we reside, may we see the unhurried, the serene.  Within minutes, the entire landscape will change as the sun rises from the eastern horizon, ushering in a new day.  We see God in the morning and in the evening and in the in-between.  He is there, ever-faithful & it is God who causes us to be HOPEFUL for what is to come once our lives are complete.  We are living within HIS STORY—GOD’S& we are allowed to take part, to come to know HIM through His Son Jesus!

“The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.”

(Psalm 19: 1-2 NASB)

In the beginning—GOD!

May we:

Reflect on His creation.

Come to a deeper appreciation for the Creator.

Work to see how His creation reflects HIM!

Truly, there is only One Living God, the supreme Being & Creator & Ruler & Redeemer of humanity.

Also true is the fact that I would never be able to express through words just exactly what needs to written about Jehovah God, so please read with me the words of prophet Jeremiah.

“It is He who made the earth by His power,
Who established the world by His wisdom;
And by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens.
When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,
And He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth;
He makes lightning for the rain,
And brings out the wind from His storehouses.
. . .”

[Who, exactly, is the ONE WHO was In the beginning?]

“The LORD of hosts is His name.”

(Jeremiah 10: 12-13 & 16b NASB)
