The SECRET
“Come here,” I said to her as I motioned with my hand, beckoning her to my side. I had some news that I wanted to, no NEEDED to share, and she was just the person who needed to hear what I needed to share.
One of our great forefathers, Benjamin Franklin once said, “A secret remains a secret between two people as long as one of the two are dead.” With my students, I have shared Franklin’s words numerous times, and shared laughter as we considered the world’s types of secrets shared and divulged by our so-called friends.
However, the SECRET we read in the Bible is NOT like the world’s secrets. In God’s Word, we find the SECRET to those things in life that stress us, to those obstacles that tower over top of us that we cannot seem to get past. In our lives, we find more opportunities for STRESS than we do for “the peace that passes all understanding.”
The peace that transcends all comprehension is realizing that despite what is thrown at us in life, we can have joy in the Lord because of Jesus Christ and not our circumstances.
The Word of God puts it this way—
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
(Philippians 4: 6-7 NASB)
let your requests be known to God.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Did we see it?—The SECRET
Did we see the conditions God sets before us who trust Him?
Did we see the three DAILY, maybe even HOURLY tasks God’s Word reminds us to do?
“Be anxious for nothing,
[God is talking to us!!!]
but in everything by prayer
[God knows we will worry more if we are not down on our knees.]
and supplication
[God understands that there will be situations in our lives when we will need to plead humbly and call on His power to take control of certain situations.]
with thanksgiving
[Praising & Thanking God our Father should always be our first action. ALWAYS!]
let your requests be known to God.
[Clearly, there is NEVER a day when we arise from our beds devoid of “prayer requests” that burden our minds and lay heavy on our minds. As God’s children, we are to habitually let our prayer requests be lifted to our Father in heaven.]
And the peace of God,
[Almighty God’s amazing, incomprehensible, forever-forgiving PEACE!]
which surpasses all comprehension,
[100%—God’s Peace surrounds us when we LIFT OUR PRAYER REQUESTS & when we HUMBLY ASK & when we PRAISE OUR FATHER!]
will guard your hearts and your mind
[It is GOD HIMSELF who will set up the hedge of protection that will continually guard our hearts and protect our minds—from WORRY—if we place our anxiety upon the altar of God.]
in Christ Jesus.”
[Only through Jesus Christ our Savior, Redeemer, Messiah, Lord, & Friend is ANY of this possible. Because we have accepted God’s Amazing Grace through the remission of our sins—ONLY BECAUSE OF THE SHED BLOOD OF CHRIST JESUS—can we experience The SECRET!]
(Philippians 4: 6-7 NASB)
Without a doubt, we will each face anxiety in life, and as we attempt to figure out situations, to understand what others are thinking, & as we try our best to decide what we should do—we are afforded the PEACE of GOD because in that moment, we realize (again & again) that we are not expected to understand all situations, all people, or all actions.
THAT’S GOD’S PLACE!
“For we know in part and we prophesy in part;
(1 Corinthians 13: 9-10 NASB)
but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.”
Did we see it?—The SECRET
Did we see the conditions God sets before us who trust Him?
Did we see the three DAILY, maybe even HOURLY PROMISES God’s Word reminds us to REMEMBER?
- GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING!
- GOD IS NEVER SURPRISED!
- GOD IS NEVER WITHOUT A SOLUTION!
Thank You, God.
Thank You, God.
Yes, Thank You, FATHER GOD!
- God knows what we do not know & in all of His direction, God will direct our feet & our path.
- God knows what the future holds & in all of His wisdom, God will carry our burdens if we place them on the altar (and leave them there day-after-day).
- God knows the best solutions to all the life-situations we will ever face & even the situation we are facing today, at this very second.
One of my favorite bands—KING & COUNTRY sings the lyrics of one of the best melodies that applies—“Control.” My husband tells me how I struggle with this, and he is right. Today, I vow to “raise my voice and sing, ‘I give up control . . . body, mind, & soul. I can’t do this on my own.”
Carry the burden OR cast it upon the Lord, & here is the SECRET we need to try our best to comprehend and hold onto today. When we give our anxiety to the LORD one more time than we take it back and carry it ourselves—Then we are exercising how Christ Jesus controls us “body, mind, & soul.” THANK YOU, FATHER, FOR SENDING YOUR SON WHO TEACHES US DAILY HOW “the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, . . .”
