A walk through life toward eternity

TRULY, IT MATTERS—WHY CHRIST CAME!

“if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead
dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
So then, brothers and sisters,
we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh—
for if you are living in accord with the flesh, you are going to die;  but if
by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”

(Romans 8: 10-13 NASB)

What if Christmas never came?

What if the Thanksgiving of November morphed directly into the cold days of January?

What if Christ never came?

What if Jesus had never been born?

What if God had never sent His only Son to earth?

What if?

  • We would not have the most precious, most beautiful, most amazing Christmas gift ever given—IF CHRIST NEVER CAME.
  • We would not have baby Jesus born to Joseph and Mary of the tribe of Judah—IF CHRIST NEVER CAME.
  • We would not have the young boy Jesus teaching the priests and scribes in the synagogue who responded with such amazement at the words of Jesus—IF CHRIST NEVER CAME.
  • We would not have the man-Jesus who called His twelve apostles, who raised the dead and healed the sick, who walked on water, fed the multitude, and revealed to us how to love in Jesus’ name—IF CHRIST NEVER CAME.
  • We would not have the tree, the one that grew to maturity to become the cross, where the sins of all mankind would be nailed, when Jesus gave his life so we could have life eternal—IF CHRIST NEVER CAME.
  • We would not have the borrowed tomb where the Roman soldiers laid the body of Jesus, the tomb that God kept shut proving to the world Jesus was indeed dead, the tomb where God rolled away the stone on the first day of week, allowing the women to find the tomb empty as the angel proclaimed to “Go and tell:  He is Alive!”—IF CHRIST NEVER CAME.

IF CHRIST NEVER CAME—we would live and die in our sins.

IF CHRIST NEVER CAME—we would never receive the mercy and grace of God.

IF CHRIST NEVER CAME—we would go to hell and forevermore be separated from God.

IF CHRIST NEVER CAME—we would be most miserable, most horrid, most awful, most DEAD!

The apostle Paul wrote to those believers living in the city of Colossae, reminding them WHY CHRIST CAME  &  HOW CHRIST’S COMING SHOULD AFFECT OUR LIVES!

Please take up your Bible and let us read WHY CHRIST’S COMING—TRULY IS SO IMPORTANT TO SHARE WITH THE WORLD SURROUNDING US.

“For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

He is—”
[CHRIST JESUS]

the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation: . . . .”

(Colossians 1: 13-15 NASB)

[Then the apostle gave us a list, a way to see all the reasons revealing—WHY CHRIST CAME!]

&

[Then the apostle Paul helped us remember our task—the children of God.]

“I was made a minister of this church according to the commission from God granted to me for your benefit, so that I might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God,
that is,
the mystery which had been hidden from the past ages and generations, but now has been revealed to His saints,
to whom God willed to make known what
the wealth of the glory of this mystery,
among the Gentiles is,
the mystery that is Christ in you,
the hope of glory.

We proclaim Him,
admonishing every person and teaching every person with all wisdom,
so that we may present every person complete in Christ.
For this purpose I also labor, striving according to
His power which works mightily within me.”

(Colossians 1: 25-29 NASB)

TRULY, IT MATTERS—WHY CHRIST CAME!

YES, TRULY, IT MATTERS—WHY CHRIST CAME!

  • It mattered to the twelve disciples (Jewish men) Jesus called to proclaim the Good News!
  • It mattered to the apostle Paul, a Jewish man saved by the grace of God, a missionary to the Gentiles, one who shared the Gospel message, changing so many  hearts!
  • It mattered to the pastor who preached a fall revival in my home church when I was fifteen.
  • It mattered to me, (a Gentile) back then & even still today.
  • It matters to those who I will encounter as I walk through life.

TRULY, IT MATTERS—WHY CHRIST CAME!

CHRIST JESUS CAME—TO SET MEN FREE FROM THE BONDAGE OF SIN!

CHRIST JESUS CAME!

  • CHRIST JESUS GAVE HIS LIFE UPON THE TREE, THE CROSS OF CALVARY!
  • CHRIST JESUS REMAINED DEAD FOR THREE DAYS WITHIN THE TOMB!
  • GOD RAISED JESUS FROM DEATH TO LIFE!

ALMIGHTY GOD DID!

  • CHRIST JESUS CAME—SO WE MIGHT LIVE!
  • CHRIST JESUS CAME—SO LET US NOT ALLOW OUR TESTIMONY TO REMAIN SILENT!
  • CHRIST JESUS CAME—PROVIDING THE ONLY WAY TO FREE US FROM OUR BONDAGE OF SIN!
  • CHRIST JESUS CAME—MAKING THE ONLY WAY!
  • CHRIST JESUS CAME—SO WE COULD RECEIVE HIS HOLY SPIRIT, SO WE COULD BE EMPOWERED, SO WE ARE ABLE TO WALK FREE!

The salvation of God we have received, those who believe in the work of Jesus in the cross and in the grave, truly is MOST AMAZING!

When I was fifteen, a kid, the power of God intersected my life through JESUS CHRIST!

I pray that you (too) have a day of remembrance when the power of God intersected your life!

  • TRULY, IT MATTERS—WHY CHRIST CAME!

Our Christian growth, our sanctification matters to God!

  • We are being made in the image of Jesus—who “is the image of the invisible God, . . .”
  • We have been given a task to proclaim the word of God, “the mystery” that has now been revealed to us—“the saints.”
  • We have been empowered from within with the Holy Spirit of God!
  • We are to obey God!
  • We are to serve God!
  • We are to be led by the Holy Spirit as we walk through our lives!
  • We are to follow Jesus Christ as He leads us home to God!

“For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

He is—[CHRIST JESUS]—the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation: . . . .”

(Colossians 1: 13-15 NASB)

THANK YOU GOD, FOR LOVING ALL MANKIND!
