Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

ETERNAL PEACE

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

(John 17: 3 NASB)

Jesus speaks with clarity!

Jesus explains how eternal life is a RELATIONSHIP with HIM!

Jesus spoke these words as He raised His eyes toward heaven.

Jesus prayed saying:  “Father, the hour has come;  glorify Your Son, so that the Son may glorify You, just as You gave Him authority over all mankind, so that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.” (John 17: 1b-2 NASB)

Jesus prayed for us!

Jesus prayed for you!

Jesus prayed for me!

Let the gravity of that statement sink deeply into our being.

The great evangelist Dwight L. Moody once said:  “Salvation is worth working for . . . But we do not get it in that way.”

Salvation comes in knowing Jesus!  PERIOD!

Salvation comes in knowing that God is “the only true God.”

Salvation comes in knowing “Jesus Christ whom You [God] have sent.”

ONE GREAT DAY—IF WE HAVE GIVEN OUR HEART TO GOD—IF WE HAVE ACCEPTED JESUS CHRIST AS OUR SAVIOR—IF WE HAVE CONFESSED OUR SINS—IF WE HAVE BELIEVED—WE WILL GO HOME TO HEAVEN—TO OUR ETERNAL PEACE!

There is only one way—HOME!

There is only ONE WAY—to a Relationship with Almighty God!

JESUS—He is the Way, the Truth, & the Life.

We may be counted in the number that populates the earth, but are we counted in the number who walk with Jesus?  THAT NUMBER is the ONLY NUMBER that TRULY MATTERS!

You may or may not know that I am attempting to learn the language of Dutch. I have my reasons for wishing to learn Dutch, selfish reasons, yet I push on, acquiring words as I go.  Let me tell you that it is a slow-go, especially for my fifty-six-year-old brain & because it is such a guttural language, and I struggle making the sounds deep in my throat.  Nevertheless, I practice every day.  I am faithful to practice because if I do not, then I forget what I have learned, and if I do not, then I am making no progress in my desire to learn. Years ago, I attended church in the Netherlands, and even as I sat in a church, listening to another language, I knew the passage being preached, and the Holy Spirit spoke to me, just as if I listened in English.

As I learn Dutch, I find myself drawn to beautiful melodies sung in that language and other languages.  This morning, I listened to a most beautiful melody sung in other languages (Ukrainian & Russian), and even though the song was filled with words I did not know, the title and the melody spoke with clarity—just as Jesus speaks to us within God’s Word.

Please listen to Keith & Kristyn Getty and also listen to Joni Eareckson Tada (Sung in Ukrainian, Russian, & English) as you finish reading.  Listen and be blessed.

“He Will Hold Me Fast”

Knowing Jesus Christ as our Savior secures eternal life in heaven for us!  The Apostle John records the words, the prayer of Jesus to remind us, that it is through Jesus we know the Father.

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” (John 17: 3 NASB)

Oh my!  Thank You Jesus for dying for me, for each one of us!  Thank You, God, for sending Jesus to be the only acceptable sacrifice for our sins!  Thank You, GOD!

We promise to honor You with our everything, every day You grant us to live, until that day You bring us home.

One day soon, each one of us who know God as our Father and who know Jesus Christ as Savior, and who walk in relationship and are led by the Holy Spirit—we will walk into heaven as our life here is done.  We have so little time.  One person I love dearly wrote these words: “Today, I will ride the death road.” Is it not ironic that this is EXACTLY what we are doing each day that we live as we ride toward our final day here on earth?! Last week, one student in my class voiced how he wishes to write his next essay about going home to heaven, a place he has never been.  A few days ago, he said aloud in class, “Ms. New, if I go, then I won’t want to come back,” to which I replied, “No, I don’t imagine any of us would, want to come back here.”

Yesterday was Veterans Day, and as the day bleeds into the weekend, may we honor those who gave a great sacrifice of their lives to defend the peace and freedom we enjoy on earth. Thank you, veterans, for your service!

Someone so dear to me loves her brother so much, and yesterday, her precious brother, who is a believer, a child of God, went home to heaven—TO HIS ETERNAL RESTING PLACE of PEACE.

On this day, I would like to speak a blessing over her, a blessing of God’s Favor.

“The LORD bless you, and keep you;
The LORD cause His face to shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His face to you,
And give you peace.”

(Numbers 6: 24-26 NASB)
