We pursue much.

We pursue a good night’s sleep, and when sleep alludes us for a few nights, well then we eagerly pursue even a bad night’s sleep BECAUSE (in our mind) some sleep is better than no sleep…….RIGHT?!!!

We pursue health as best we can by eating healthy one or two, or maybe five work lunches a week, and we may have the best work out clothes we can wear on our Saturday hikes BECAUSE we know a little food mindfulness & surely some weekend exercise must be better than none……RIGHT?!!!

We pursue a relationship with God, and so we “catch” church each week and we may even run past a quick devotional that sits on our desk at work BECAUSE a little Bible Scripture (even one or verses two hastily absorbed) is better than no verses read…..RIGHT?!!!

In all honesty, we seek what we most wish to find.…..RIGHT?!!!

In total truthfulness, we pursue that which we most desire.…..RIGHT?!!!

In all fairness, we NEVER wish to be lost, but we do wish to be FOUND, but just not today.…..RIGHT?!!!

In all genuine sincerity, we never wish to be known as less of a believer, but we wish to be MORE Christ-like………RIGHT?!!!

So………..WHY?

As In……….WHY have we NOT YET Believed? & WHY have we NOT YET accepted Christ Jesus as Savior? And WHY are we walking (still) in darkness, apart from God?

As In……….WHY do we (who have believed and who have accepted Christ Jesus as our Savior) wish to run so fast past our meditation? & WHY do we (who have believed and who have accepted Christ Jesus as Savior) run quickly through our Bible study? & WHY do we (who have believed and who have accepted Christ Jesus as Savior) speed through our prayer time with our LORD?!!!

Yes……..Today is a Great Day to Ask Ourselves——WHY? As always, God’s Holy Word (the Bible) provides us with the life-example we need. In the Old Testament, we see:

• Jesse’s son, David……..turned
• Shepherd boy, David…….turned
• Anointed Israel King, David……..turned
• Valiant animal victor, David……..turned
• Goliath slayer, David……..turned
• Warrior and Soldier, David……..turned
• Saul Pursued & Saul Feared, David……..turned
• Sinful King, David………turned
• Bathsheba-Seeking, David……..turned
• Adulterous, David……..turned
• Uriah murderer, David……..turned
• Repentant, David……..turned
• GOD-SEEKING, David…….Returned, Accepted, Forgiven, & Saved.

Seasons.

If we live long enough, we will walk through so many life seasons, and (if we live long enough) just like David, we will NOT live perfectly.  THAT’S PRECISELY WHY WE NEED A SAVIOR!!!

• ***We are not perfect, BUT GOD IS!!!
• ***We are sinners, BUT GOD IS HOLY!!!
• ***We are flawed, BUT GOD IS INFALLIBLE!!!
• ***We are human, BUT GOD IS INCARNATE!!!
• ***We are created, BUT GOD IS OUR CREATOR!!!
• ***We are lost in our sins, BUT GOD SAVES SINNERS!!!
• ***We are apart from God, we are lost in darkness and chained to our sin, BUT ONCE SAVED, WE WALK UNCHAINED IN TOTAL FREEDOM!!!
• ***We are lost in our sins, we have no hope, BUT ONCE WE ACCEPT CHRIST JESUS AS SAVIOR, OUR HOPE REMAINS FOREVER SECURE, HELD BY GOD HIMSELF!!!
• ***We are unsaved and follow the father of lies—Satan, the Devil (who continually deceives), BUT ONCE WE ARE SAVED & FORGIVEN & A CHILD OF GOD, WE FOLLOW OUR FATHER GOD—-WHO SUSTAINS US & WHO IS THE FATHER OF TRUTH!!!

David was known & is still known worldwide as “the man after God’s own heart.”

David was, but we must also remember that he was a man, a human being, a person, a sinner……..Just like us. So we must also remember David walked through all the seasons of his life, as an imperfect soul, daily pursuing a closer relationship with God…….Just like us.

During David’s lifetime, he wrote—–“O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly;   My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,   In a dry and weary land where there is no water (1). Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary,  To see Your power and Your glory (2). Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,   My lips will praise You (3). So I will bless You as long as I live;   I will lift up my hands in Your name (4). My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness,   And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips (5). When I remember You on my bed,  I meditate on You in the night watches, (6). For You have been my help,  And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy  (7). My soul clings to You;  Your right hand upholds me (8). (Psalm 63: 1-8)

David knew he was a man, conceived in iniquity within his mother’s womb, sinful from the start. David knew he was a man, nothing more, nothing less. & David did not always seek what was best for himself.

BUT GOD KNEW!!!

God knew David needed a Savior & LORD. GOD PURSUED DAVID!

• God Knows Us!
• God knows we are born with a sinful nature.
• God created us, knit us inside our mother’s  womb. Yes.
• God knows us!
• God knows our hearts.       &
• God knows we need a Savior & LORD.
• GOD PURSUES US!
• GOD WANTS US!
• GOD SEEKS US!
• GOD DESIRES TO SAVE US!
• GOD WANTS US TO KNOW HIM INTIMATELY!!!

Clearly, THAT TRUTH IS THE MOST AMAZING THOUGHT TO CONSIDER—–EVER!!!

May we read and may we meditate today upon Psalm 63.

May we not rush today through our Bible Scripture reading, but may we slow down & spend time studying God’s Word.

May we talk today with our God.

May we seek today to know God while we have breath in our lungs.

May we be known today as a man/as a woman after God’s own heart. & Then tomorrow……

May we walk, pursuing God intimately all over again………day after day after day after day after day……..until that day when God takes His child home.
