Let Us Be Seasoned With Salt
Today, my thoughts are overcome with prayer. There are so many reasons to pray this morning, so many opportunities to lift up others in prayer, and oh, so many reasons that should drive believers to our knees as we seek God today.
There is a call to prayer—for parents raising children—today.
There is a call to prayer—for co-workers as they encounter the needs of those who surround them, who may not yet know the saving grace of God—today.
There is a call to prayer—for fathers and mothers and grandparents who are praying over their children’s salvation—today.
There is a call to prayer—for an attitude of thanksgiving to God—today.
There is a call to prayer—for Christians to live as Salt & Light—today.
There is a call to prayer—for Believers, that our speech may be one seasoned with salt, to respond, led by God’s guidance—today.
There is a call to prayer—for the children of God, “that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ”—today.
There is a call to prayer—for our nation, for a repentance, for a turning toward God—today.
There is a call to prayer—for Christians to bow, to fast, to PRAY—TODAY.
There is a call to prayer—for the Christians living in war-torn lands today, asking the LORD that there would come opportunities to show the love of Jesus—today.
There is a call to prayer—for all missionaries serving in areas experiencing war, asking God to speak to the hearts of those being served, that they will come to God’s saving grace—today.
There is a call to prayer—for the refugees fleeing to safety who must fear whether they will be able to return to the land they call “home,” asking God to provide them safety—today.
There is a call to prayer—for those fighting within their borders, those who know they must fight to maintain their home, their safety, and their independence, seeking God’s will—today.
There is a call to prayer—for our nation’s president and the other world leaders as they navigate through these tensions, asking God to give them discernment and wisdom—today.
There is a call to prayer—for world leader Vladimir Putin, asking God to change his heart—today.
There is a call to prayer—for Christians to bow, to fast, to PRAY—TODAY.
We are called to pray—today.
We are called to lift specifically, intercessory prayers for others.
We are called to pray, as the Apostle Paul instructed the people worshipping God in Colossi, to pray for open doors to share Jesus, for opportunities to connect with unbelievers, to meet the needs of those “outside” the body of believers, to share Christ’s love within our day, as we go, and to pray, speaking words seasoned with salt as we talk with others—TODAY.
Are we speaking words seasoned with salt every opportunity we receive?
Do the words we speak aloud reflect how we are relying on God to guide us?
Are we kneeling down, facedown even as Daniel, and seeking God for others this day?
As we sharing life with others, do we seek God, as we walk with them, speak with them, and live with them—or are we doing, walking, and living—in our own strength?
The disciples of Jesus did not necessarily know the outcome of their lives as they were living and walking with Jesus day-after-day, and neither do we. We cannot always know why God allows troubles and struggles and trials within our lives, but we can know that we are to live, to walk, to fast, to bend down on our knees in prayer, to seek God’s guidance each day. We can remember that our lives are so much larger, have so much more influence, and touch the lives of others—More than we could ever imagine. Our perspective is so small, but God’s view of the world is so LARGE!
We have been made in the image of God, and that means we resemble our Maker, our Creator.
We have been created in the image of God, and that means we should seek to live like Jesus.
We have been filled with the Holy Spirit of God as believers, and that means we should take time to PRAY, to PRAISE GOD—EVERY SINGLE DAY, BEGINNING TODAY!
We have been given a rare opportunity to walk with others today, may we Be Seasoned With Salt as we go throughout this one day God has given to us to live.
Then tomorrow—may we bow to pray, rise to speak, lift our hands to do, and step our feet to go—Seasoned With Salt—Again.
God’s Word provides us clear direction every day. SEE WITH ME.
“Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;
praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the Word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned;
that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.
Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.
Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.”
(Colossians 4: 2-6)
