Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Imagine Receiving A Letter From God

Imagine receiving a letter from God.  Imagine what God might write (if HE sent us personal letters).  Would HE write individual letters or not have time for that, so HE would (instead) write us a collective, group letter?

Imagine receiving a letter from God. Imagine what type of medium HE might choose if the letter arrived.  Would God send it via email or a handwritten letter through the post.    Maybe God might choose a “more fantastical” way (like a letter written in the clouds across the sky).

Imagine receiving a letter from God.    Imagine what He would write as the opening salutation.  Think what words God would choose to address us——INDIVIDUALLY.    “Dear Son”  OR   “Dear Daughter”      OR   “Dear Friend”   OR   “Dear Child”   OR  “Dear Lost One Who Chooses To Not Yet Know Me.”

If we remember our English lesson about letter writing and punctuation from school, depending upon how well God knows each one of us would determine God’s punctuation.    Does God know us intimately, choosing to place a comma at the end of the salutation?    Maybe God knows us, but we do not know HIM, so a colon would come at the end of the letter’s opening because we remain a stranger to him, not yet part of His personal family.

A letter……sent to each one of us…….personally…..from God Himself.

Would we pick up the mail today, cast all other documents aside, reading God’s letter FIRST?  Maybe we would save His letter, the best letter to read LAST.

If God sent His letter via email, might we scan our inbox today, see the email sent to us From God, and then spend all morning focused upon His words, written specifically to each of us?

Imagine receiving a letter from God.  Would we re-read God’s letter? Would we read it over and over and over—–day after day after day after day? Would we call our friends and family to share significant verses, memorable chapters, selected books, and particular sections of God’s letter written to us? OR, Would we be too embarrassed to share His words written to us?

Imagine receiving a letter from God.

Imagine that this letter came into our hands today.

Imagine the contents of God’s letter to us. Imagine what God would choose to say. Would God say……….

“I Love you, and here’s why.”

“I Love you, so I sent My Son Jesus to provide a way for you to know Me.”

“I Love you, and I will never be too disappointed in you for you to know Me, and here’s why.”

“I Love you, and I know this season of life is so difficult for you, so I promise to remain with you, never leaving you.”

“I Love you, & I am who I say I am.”

“I Love you & I will keep My promises to you.”

“I Love you & I know how you should go throughout your life, what decisions you should make.  Just follow me. I’ve got this.”

“I Love you.  I am the living, resurrected God of the universe.”

“I Love YOU!!!    Will you choose to believe Me today?”

Imagine receiving a letter from God.  Imagine the closing line, written from God….to us.

“Love God”  OR  “Love ABBA Father”

Imagine receiving a letter from God.  Imagine receiving that letter TODAY.  Where would we store our letter once we read it through? Would we lovingly place it deep into our bedroom trunk, the place where we store our most treasured heirlooms? Would we not want to be separated from it, so we might decide to carry the letter with us every place we go? Maybe we might choose to memorize the words within our minds, placing God’s Word deep inside us, so we could keep it within us, even when it became too dark to read.

Imagine receiving a letter from God today. Imagine God’s opening lines—“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.  Then God said, ‘Let there be light;’ and there was light'” (Genesis 1:1-3).

Imagine receiving a letter from God.  Imagine God’s closing lines—“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’  And let the one who hears say, ‘Come.’  And let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book:   If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; And  if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book. He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.”    Amen.  Come LORD JESUS.  The grace of the LORD JESUS be with all. Amen”  (Revelation 22:  17-21).

Imagine receiving a letter from God.  Imagine God’s words found in the middle of His letter to us—“How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night” (Psalm 1: 1-2).

And Finally——–Imagine receiving a letter from God today. Imagine that our letter contained these words, directly from God, sent specifically to our soul.  “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”  (Romans 5:8).

Imagine receiving a letter from God.
