What Do We Want for Christmas?
What do you want for Christmas?
This becomes an easy-enough-question to ask just about anyone we meet at Christmastime.
The answers that follow are filled with material wants, material desires, and material wishes.
It’s a truth, we all WANT something—All the time! We may WANT:
- To get to work on time.
- To become a better person.
- To own the newest, fastest car.
- To live somewhere besides where we currently live.
- To get a new job.
- To be out of debt.
- To work not so long that we have no energy left to retire and still enjoy life.
- To return to college.
- To move into our new home before the end of the year.
- To visit with someone close to our heart.
- To receive peace, love, and joy—while we live.
- To live until we die and to die well without regrets or “un-lived” wishes or with “un-received” desires.
Yes, we WANT So Much!
Yes, We Have ALREADY Received so many Wants!
The truth about God is that He reveals so much to us as we live so we can learn to keep our wants in check—&—He continually meets our needs. Yes, that’s right—God meets ALL of our Needs, and God does this Every Day!!!
Do you know God?
Have you asked God to forgive you of your sins and to come into your heart?
Have you accepted the Truth that Jesus Christ came to earth as a perfect babe, to live as a perfect man, to die upon the cross of Calvary, to offer Himself as the perfect sacrifice?
Yes, this is the TRUTH!
Jesus Christ came
As the perfect atonement for the forgiveness of our sins,
To be buried in a new tomb, To stayed buried for three days, To show the world that He (JESUS) really was dead,
To resurrect Himself to new life, To be seen by over 500 witnesses over a span of 40 days,
To ascend back to heaven, AND
To await THE DAY when He will return to earth, &To judge the world as the King of Kings.
“If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1: 8-9
It all begins with the question: Do You Know Jesus Christ as Savior?
A simple question.
A multi-faceted answer.
What do we want this Christmas?
The Answer:
- We want peace—JESUS.
- We want truth—JESUS.
- We want to live in a way that our life counts—JESUS.
WE WANT SO MUCH!
God knows we do, and because He does, God does what only God can do—He provides for our needs, thereby refocusing our wants AS our needs have been met.
Do not believe me but let me show you in God’s Word a passage that speaks this so.
“O taste and see that the LORD is good,
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
O fear the LORD, you His saints;[that’s the believers, the Christians]
(Psalm 34: 8-12)
For to those who fear Him there is no want.
The young lions do lack and suffer hunger;
But they who seek the LORD shall not be in want of any good thing.
Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
Who is the man who desires life
And loves length of days that he may see good?
Keep your tongue from evil
And your lips from speaking deceit.
Depart from evil and do good.
Seek peace and pursue it.”
We can WANT for so much when what we NEED MOST is the peace of Jesus dwelling inside us.
This Christmas, may we each keep our eyes focused upon the perfect babe—the perfect Son of God—JESUS—the perfect Sacrifice—the perfect Savior—&—the perfect Redeemer!
