GOD Is Bigger (Even More Powerful) Than All Our Life-Struggles!
When small, my favorite thing was when dad would wrestle with us in the living room floor. Dad loved us, so he would never hold us so tightly that we could not slip away, but when first held, dad held tightly. I knew his strength, and I knew how it superseded mine.
Time passed; we continued to wrestle. I grew strong from farm work and sports, so whenever he and I would wrestle during those years, dad would need to hold tighter because I could escape his grip and even, for a millisecond hold him tightly. One day, dad said, “We had better quit wrestling because someone’s going to get hurt.” Never did I dream it would be my dad who would be injured for he (in my mind) had superhuman strength.
As time went by, our wrestling days ceased, and now dad is gone, so we will never wrestle together again this side of heaven. Maybe there is playful wrestling in heaven, and if so, someday soon, I will grab dad’s arm, urging him to come the floor of heaven for a playful time of wrestling.
For now, dad is already home in heaven, and I remain here on earth. Since you are reading this blog, that means you are here (on earth) too, and that also means you (like me) face struggles, face things we wrestle with, and face adversity—as we live here on earth.
What has God given you to do?
What has God placed upon your heart, and you are praying over this “thing” you must do?
God is the Creator of the world and our heavenly Father. Nothing is too large, too overwhelmingly difficult, or too heavy for Him. He will never need to “tap out” or “give up” or “stop wresting” with anything because HE IS GOD of EVERYTHING & NOTHING IS TOO BIG for GOD!!!
Then there’s us, the humans, the weak humans. We face adversity and we run away OR give up OR stop giving our all—just because the task we are called to do is faced with opposition. The Bible clearly tells us that God calls His creation (US) to do specific things, to tasks, to trust Him. Then as we obey, He equips us with what we need.
Does that mean our time will be struggle–free?
Absolutely Not!!!
In fact, the opposite is true. When we grow in our faith and walk with God; When we seek to do His will—Then the devil shows up and begins to oppose our every step, striving mightily to stop anything that reveals God’s Amazing Goodness.
What are we wrestling with today?
Are we wrestling with the void felt in the hope of ever finding someone to walk beside us in life—a spouse?
Are we wrestling with finishing our education to pursue the career choice God has placed within our heart?
Are we wrestling with overcoming a surgery, one needed but one that still seems to have changed our bodies forever?
Are we wrestling with the fight of our life to overcome cancer’s attack upon our health, upon our body, a cancer that we are determined to fight and not allow it to win?
Are we wrestling with children, with children who are not walking with God or maybe even with children who are struggling individually as their days go by?
Are we wrestling with pain within our body, struggles like we’ve never known before, and struggles that seem to plague us day-after-day?
Are we wrestling with salvation, with wondering if God is for real, if God can really do what He promises He can do—Save your soul?
Are we wrestling with a marriage that seems to be fracturing more and more every day despite whatever we do to salvage the marriage?
Are we wrestling with the struggles found within a super-difficult day-to-day adversity found within a career, maybe even wondering IF this is the career God would have us continue?
Are we struggling with unbelief, with disobedience, with conviction because we can sense the Holy Spirit of God speaking directly to our heart, whispering in a very strong request: “Come! Come & Believe. Come Follow Me & Come, Be Set Free!!!”
All struggles that we wrestle with can be overcome as we walk home to be with God because God will help us overcome the struggle as we rely upon His strength. And if the struggle that we wrestle with overcomes us, then God will come for His children (for those who have believed & received His free gift of salvation). God will bring home to heaven those who are His.
Let us read God’s Word and Believe!
“Ah Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You.”
(Jeremiah 32: 17)
- There is a truth for all of us (all who fit any of these categories)—We Will Face Adversity Until Our Earthly Life Is Over.
- There is a second truth for all of us (all who fit any of these categories)—The Devil Will Constantly Show Up To Fight Against Us Anytime We Are Called By God.
- Finally, there is a third & FAR GREATER TRUTH—All of us (all who fit into the group of people called—Humanity)—The Savior of the World Has ALREADY WON ALL THE BATTLES & HE WILL COME AGAIN FOR US!!!
Jesus went to the cross of Calvary so we could receive eternal life and live within an internal peace here on earth. Walking with God throughout our days is likened to the image of a daddy holding tightly to His small child’s hand as they walk.
Today, listen to this beautiful Christmas song—-“I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day,” sung by Casting Crowns. Yes, pause today and enjoy the beauty found within the lyrics of this melody.
Daddy has our hand (if we have received God’s free gift of salvation).
If not, and if we still have breath in our lungs, there is still time to receive the most important and precious gift that only God can give.
Then as we step forward, with our hand enclosed by our Father’s hand, walking close beside Him throughout our every day—Let us find joy in remembering—
1. God—He’s got our this, whatever our THIS!
2. God—He’s never going to leave us. NEVER!
3. God—He will never be surprised or “out-wrestled” or frightened by anything that comes our way. HE OVERCOMES! In Fact, God Has Already Overcome Satan & Everything in this World!
4. God’s Free Gift of Salvation is ours forever! FOREVER!!!
