Asking—Seeking—Knocking—-May We Be Persistent
One day, it happened.
Jesus was praying.
He prayed in a certain place.
Jesus finished praying.
One of Jesus’ disciples said to Him.
“Lord, teach us to pray….”
And He said to them, “When you pray, say:
‘Father, hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And lead us not into temptation.’ “
Then Jesus taught them (His disciples) about one who has a friend in need, one who seeks help in the night, when it’s not a convenient time to help. Jesus speaks of the way we respond, how we say, ‘Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.’
Persistence.
The one in need continues to knock.
The one inside will get up from his bed, and the friend will give him what he needs, “as much as he needs.”
Then Jesus says to His disciples,
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you;
(Luke 11: 1-10)
seek, and you will find;
knock, and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives;
and he who seeks, finds;
and to him who knocks, it will be opened.
Prayer is Powerful.
Prayer is Purposeful.
Prayer is Necessary.
Prayer is Reliant.
Prayer is Determined.
Prayer is Persistent.
Prayer is Offered.
Prayer is Received.
Prayer is Felt.
Prayer is Lifted.
Prayer is Modeled.
Prayer is Answered.
What are you praying for?
Have you been praying, consistently, for a certain request, maybe for years?
Do not stop!
God hears you!
God hears me!
God answers our prayers!
If that were not so, then we would not exist because someone (before us) prayed for us.
Yes, we (each one of us) are an answer to a prayer!
If we are a believer, a child of God, then we are a product of someone’s prayer, an answer to another’s consistent prayer!
If we are not yet a believer, then someone (for sure) is praying for us today, for the veil of doubt to be lifted and for our eyes to be opened.
PRAYER IS SERIOUS!!!
What are we praying for today?
Are we weary from praying for so long?
Do our knees hurt from praying, from our persistent kneeling?
LET US NOT GIVE UP!!!
Jesus instructs us to ASK, and He tells us when we do (ASK), then IT will be given to us (that which we ask for in our prayers).
(Luke 11:9)
Jesus instructs us to SEEK, and He tells us when we do (SEEK), then IT will be found (that which we seek in our prayers).
Jesus instructs us to KNOCK, and He tells us when we do (KNOCK), then IT will be opened up to us (that which we knock to be opened in our prayers).
PRAYER IS SERIOUS.
PRAYER IS POWERFUL.
GOD ANSWERS OUR PRAYERS.
LET US NOT (EVER) GIVE UP PRAYING FOR THAT WHICH WE ASK, SEEK, AND CONTINUALLY KNOCK (FOR).
GOD IS THERE!!!!
Jesus is the Friend who will arise and open the door when we are persistent in our knocking, and Jesus will “give him as much as he needs” (Luke 11:8).
God hears our prayers!
May we be persistent and not grow weary in our Asking, in our Seeking, or our Knocking.
God Sees and Knows our hearts!
God answers our prayers in His Way & in His Timing!!!
