When A Broken Heart Is A Good Thing
What does it mean when we tell someone our heart is broken?
What does it mean when we tell another that half of our heart is here, while the other half remains there, with them?
Is it even possible to share our heart?
Can we even compartmentalize our heart so that a piece of it remains here while another piece remains there and then another piece of our heart, even there too, as well?
Can a broken heart, a fractured heart, be a good thing and something we should desire?
If you know me, then you also know how I left half of my heart in Europe on Friday.
So, can a broken heart, a fractured heart, be a good thing and something we should desire?
I believe so.
God is God is God is God.
It is God who loves us so much, and It is God who taught us how to love.
God sent His only Son Jesus to us, to prepare the only way to know, totally know the salvation and grace found in God’s love.
Once Jesus’ mission of providing us a way to know God, once His had completed God’s will, once Jesus offered the ultimate sacrifice for us—His life for each one of our lives—THEN Jesus ascended back to heaven, where HE sat down at the right hand of God’s throne, where HE will remain until HE comes a second time to rapture His Church and to judge.
Even when Jesus returned to heaven, God did not leave us (His children) alone, but sent us a Helper, a comforter found in His Holy Spirit who lives within us, within those who choose to believe and accept Christ as LORD.
Three parts of one Whole. Three in One. The trinity of God. The Father—-The Son—-The Holy Spirit.
In the Old Testament of God’s Word, we learn of a time on earth when God’s heart was broken over the state of humanity, so He prepared a way for a man named Noah to preach God’s Salvation. In doing so, Noah and his family were saved. Anyone else who would also believe in God’s salvation would have been saved, but the number remained small of those souls who were saved on the Ark God provided through Noah’s obedience to God. Only eight—Noah & his wife, Ham & his wife, Shem and his wife, and Japheth and his wife. That’s It. Just a few believed.
Does God’s heart still break today for humanity? Can our broken heart, our fractured heart, be a good thing and something we should desire?
I believe so.
God is God is God is God. It is God who loves us so much, and It is God who continues to teach us how to love.
God sent His only Son Jesus to us….YES, to Each One of Us. Jesus came to prepare the ONLY WAY to know, totally know the salvation and grace found in God’s love. God’s heart broke for His creation, so He sent Jesus Christ, His only Son to humanity, so we could believe in Him and know Him.
Truly, my mind is just not large enough to grasp the vastness of God, but I know God does love us with a love unlike any other kind of love, one that would send His Only Son to save you and to save me. A fractured heart, a broken heart, for those He loves, and even for those who continually refuse to believe that He exists, that He came to save, and that He will come again (at our moment of death or at His rapture of the earth—whichever event occurs first).
So, again, can a broken heart, a fractured heart, be a good thing and something we should desire?
I believe so. In God’s great love, He led me to make a vow, a promise, a desire for a child. He then led me to know a second one, another one to love. Then God allowed both of them to live far, far away. God is so good, and He reminds me every day of my vow to Him.
Love is Love is Love is Love is Love.
God teaches us so.
Solomon, the man who was gifted with the greatest wisdom, wrote these words to define God’s love for us.
“A man of too many friends comes to ruin,
But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24).
That is God.
That is Jesus.
That is God’s Holy Spirit.
Then the writer of Hebrews wrote these words to define God’s love for us.
“Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, ‘I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,” so that we confidently say,’THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID.
(Hebrews 13: 5-8)
WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?’
Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
I left Sydney in Europe.
I left Marieke in Europe.

God’s heart broke for His creation, so He sent Jesus Christ, His only Son to humanity, so we could believe in Him and know Him.
Today, may we love hard, loving others with a fierceness.
Today, may be so brokenhearted over the fact that some who we know remain lost, separated from God in their unbelief.
Today may we be a brother and a sister to them and stand close beside them.
Today may we share our testimony with them.
Today may we see the beauty found in being brokenhearted for those who do not yet know God.
Yes….today, may we.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
