WHAT SHALL WE DO WITH THIS LIFE WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN?
Good Sunday Morning.
People ask multiple times through life the directional question—-What should I do with my life? We know our decision is timely and beautiful because we also know our time this side of the garden of daisies is limited. So we ask. We strive forward. We seek truth. We hope we are on the right path. We turn this way to that, constantly searching to climb the ladder to find a successful life, WHEN, in the fullness of truth, the Bible teaches us over and over that success is NOT the acquisition of items, power, money, or status. Repeatedly, we discover that success is something so much grander.
Yet, unfortunately, we may not discover that truth until AFTER we have striven for the highest accolades, the corner office with a view, the fattest bank account, the tallest house, and the swiftest car. Truly, we have NEVER seen a wealthy person or a famous person, or anyone (for that matter) Drive their Hearse-Carrying casket out of the cemetery themselves as they escaped death. AND also true, we have also NEVER see a Hearse-Carrying casket loaded with the spoils of life accompany a dead person into eternity.
It is a truth, we have only this one life.
It is a truth that we can waste valuable time chasing the wrong items, concepts, and awards. &
Finally, it is also a truth that God knows this about us, so He provided us a Way to become less like our selfish selves and more lovely, clothed not with the filthy rags of life, but instead clothed with the righteousness of Jesus as God continually trims us, refines us, and prepares us for eternity within His presence.
YES, it is 100% true that we can store all our life-treasures in heaven where they will remain safe until we join them after our earthly death and step into our eternal afterlife in heaven with God. Now, some may be thinking, “I thought you just said we cannot take anything with us,” and that’s right; we cannot, but we can pay it forward (so to speak).
Here’s How!!!
In the book of Micah, we find the prophet asking the people if they knew how to thank Almighty God for their deliverance from captivity, and then we read Micah’s answer.
“With what shall I come to the LORDAnd bow myself before the God on high?Shall I come to Him with burnt offerings,With yearling calves?Does the LORD take delight in thousands of rams,In ten thousand rivers of oil?Shall I present my firstborn for my rebellious acts,The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of youBut to do justice, to love kindness,And to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:6-8).
We can spend a life chasing after the wind.
We can strive to acquire all of the “this(es)” & “thats” to be gained.
We can travel far and wide, enjoying the beauties of this pretty world. &
We can still die a pauper, totally destitute without eternal HOPE.
OR
We can choose now to seek the “REAL” treasures to be found.
**Do Justice.
**Love Kindness.
**Walk in Humility with Our Jehovah God.
3 things to acquire. A small list & A huge reward.
JUSTICE—–Seeing the mess of our lives, &
Asking Jesus to come into our hearts and become our LORD, &
Then begin Doing what is Right in God’s eyes………..Every Day.
KINDNESS—–Loving Others as God loves Us.
WALKING IN HUMILITY—–Forever Grateful and Walking the Journey of this life with our LORD Jesus Christ.
As we (every day) grab our walking stick, &
As we walk close beside Jesus, &
As we go where God’s Holy Spirit leads, &
As we do as God leads, &
As we praise, thanking GOD Every Step of the Way (for our salvation),
THEN, there is a 100% chance that our lives will have been spent well.
The Truth—-on our final day on this earth, our path will not lead to separation and darkness and despair.
Instead, Jesus will walk us right from this life into eternity where we will live forevermore.
Let us today stop chasing the things of this world.
Let us stop and let us lift our arms high unto the air, and sing praises to the King of Kings.
“Good God Almighty” by Crowder may today help us begin our song of praise.
So, What Shall We Do With This Life We Have Been Given?
CHOOSE TO WALK WITH GOD. My hope…….That I meet you on this same path, walking step-by-step beside Jesus, as we both journey with our LORD.
