His Might Holds Us Tight
“Behold, I am going to send an angel before you
(Exodus 23: 20 NASB)
to guard you along the way and
to bring you into the place which I have prepared.”
It has often been said that life is a journey, a path to walk, a road to traverse. Our body is the means by which we go from birth to death. Since we are born without the ability, we must be carried by our loved ones when we are babies, until we learn to walk.
Imagine a small child learning to walk. This tiny one has been sitting, crawling, and pulling up to stand next to various objects: the coffee table, the couch, and even the kitchen chair. Suddenly, without warning, the small child lets go of whatever object steadies them and the child steps out into the open floor. As expected, after two baby steps, the child falls to the floor, naturally and expertly crawling over to the next object, where they will pull up, stand, and let go—all over again—until they have perfected the art of walking unassisted from point A to point B, without falling.
However, in this same imaginary scene, there are times when the child’s parent assists. In these times, the child allows the tiny child to latch onto the parent’s hands, holding on tightly, even as the parent holds onto the child. With planned thought, the parent leads the child out into the open floor, away from the security of the object. & With precise help, the parent guides the child across the expanse of the floor, leading the child to walk assisted from point A to point B, without falling.
NEVER DOES THE PARENT HOLD ONTO HIS CHILD—ONLY TO LET THE CHILD GO.
NEVER DOES THE PARENT LET GO OF HIS CHILD—SAYING,
“I know you are going to fall. Go ahead and fall.”
RATHER—A PARENT CARES FOR HIS CHILD, HOLDING ONTO THE CHILD, HELPING THE CHILD, KEEPING THE CHILD FROM FALLING.
FATHER GOD DOES THE SAME FOR HIS CHILDREN!
OUR HEAVENLY FATHER—
- HOLDS ONTO US.
- HELPING US.
- GUIDING US & SAYING TO US,
“I have you, child of God. Trust in Me. Pray to Me. Read My Word. Listen to Me. I will catch you when you fall.”
GOD LEADS HIS CHILDREN AS THEY WALK, AS THEY TRAVERSE THIS JOURNEY OF LIFE.
When the children of Israel traveled to the land God had prepared for them, God knew—
- How His people had been slaves for 430 years.
- How they might not have the confidence they needed to confront the pagan nations.
God knew they were about to face their enemies in their first conquest at Jericho, once they crossed the Jordan River.
So, the LORD GOD reassured His children by holding onto them.
The FATHER promptly sent His angel to go before them, to guide them, to guard them, to lead them—to the Promised Land—to the place He had prepared for them.
“Behold, I am going to send an angel before you
(Exodus 23: 20 NASB)
to guard you along the way and
to bring you into the place which I have prepared.”
- There would be struggles.
- There would be falls.
- There would be moments of crying.
- There would be temptations along the way.
- There would even be times of testing, as the LORD led them along His path.
- There would be scrapes and bruises.
However, there would be triumph—when the children of Israel stepped into the Promised Land—“into the place” God had prepared for them to go.
God loves His children—all of His children.
- God is with us—His children saved through His Promise of Salvation—through His Son Jesus.
- God will help us, guide us, lead us, sustain us—walking with us—through His Holy Spirit “into the place” He has prepared for us.
Just as our earthly parent loved us too much when we were small
Just as our parent said, “I know you are going to fall, but I’m going to help you back up when you do fall,”
Our heavenly FATHER LOVES US TOO MUCH, saying, “I have you, child. Trust in Me. Pray to Me. Remain daily in My Word. Listen to My voice, and if you fall, I will catch you when you do.”
- Our lives are a journey, a path to walk, a road to traverse.
- Our bodies are the means by which we go from birth to death.
Since we are born without the ability to go to heaven on our own, we must receive the gift of salvation God offers each person.
- Then we are held tightly by the Father.
- Then we are led by His Spirit. &
- Then we are co-heirs with His Son Jesus.
However, this glorious walk with God—begins at the moment of our acceptance & belief in—His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ.
Then, His Might Holds Us Tight—as we cross from death into—the glories of eternity with HIM.
Cancer. Sudden Tragedy. Loss. Or Strange & Invading Trials in our Lives.
- Seek the LORD in all of these.
May we allow ourselves to recall with full assurance just what the Bible promises to those who believe in HIM.
The prophet of God, Isaiah, recorded these words of comfort Almighty God spoke to him.
May we find peace in the Word of God today.
“You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth,
(The Book of Isaiah 41: 9-10 NASB)
And called from its remotest parts
And said to you,
‘You are My servant,
I have chosen you and not rejected you.
Do not fear,
for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you,
for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’”
