Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Who will tell—if you & I remain silent?

Today marks the eightieth year since the liberation of the concentration camp Auschwitz; thus, this 27th day of January 2025 is a day of remembrance.  As the day approached, I found myself recalling lessons taught within my former English classes, opportunities to share the stories of those who fought so valiantly for their freedom.  Surely, those who fought wished for their lives to matter, for their fight to be remembered, for their story to be heard.  With the importance of this day and with my pastor’s message on Sunday planted firmly in my heart, I began to consider the following questions:

  • Who will tell your story when you are gone?
  • Who will know you have received the perfect sacrifice for your sin?
  • Who will know you are a believer in Jesus if you remain silent?
  • Who will tell the world about the blood of the spotless Lamb of God, if you don’t?
  • Who will tell about God’s free gift of grace, of eternal life, of abundant life, if you do not voice the truth?

Who will tell—if you remain silent?

Truthfully, every “you” is applicable to me and became an “I” inside my Bible, located on the first page—GenesisToday marks the “Genesis of my rededication,” a  beginning, a fresh start, a remembrance of JUST WHAT JESUS DID ON THE CROSS FOR YOU, FOR ME & FOR MANKIND!

So, I pray, asking my Heavenly Father.

Empower me,

I, who knows You, Jesus, as my Savior,

help me to be bold for You,

beginning today.

I ask this today, in the name of Jesus, my Redeemer.

Amen.

When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
He made you alive together with Him,
having forgiven us all our transgressions,
having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us,
which was hostile to us;
and He has taken it out of the way,
having nailed it to the cross.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Colossians 2: 13-14 NASB)

As I found myself studying about the Holocaust, remembering through the stories of those who endured its atrocities, I also found myself turning to the Word of God, recalling the atrocities my Savior endured on the cross of Calvary—for us.

  • We were dead, dying, headed toward an eternal separation, walking toward hell, because of our sinfulness.
  • Who are we to violate that which He created?!
  • We are God’s creation, every single one of us.  The Bible tells us so!

“Then God said,
“Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;
[the Us:  Father God, the Son of God, & God’s Holy Spirit]

and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
God created man in His own image,
in the image of God He created him;
male and female He created them.”

(Genesis 1: 26-27 NASB)
  • When we were dead, He took our place!
  • When we were dead, He made us alive with Him!
  • When we were dead, He forgave us of all our sins!
  • When we were dead, He canceled our debt & nailed it to Calvary’s cross!
  • When we were dead, He took our sins, our transgressions, completely away, and Jesus made the only way possible for us—to know Father God!

Christ Jesus, the Son of God & the Son of man—Did this for us: for you & for me!

Who will tell—if you & I remain silent?

Thank You, God.

Thank You, Jesus.

Thank You, for Your Grace.

Thank You, for Your Forgiveness, in spite of everything we have ever done, the many sins we have committed against You.

Thank You God.

Thank You, Jesus.

Thank You, for Your Fellowship You offer to us.

Thank You, for Your freedom You have given us from the bondage of the first man’s sin.

May we tell those we encounter, for Who will tell—if you and I remain silent?!!!

The one who was given the task of writing The Letter to the Hebrews wrote these words to give us remembrance of that which we must never forget.

“See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking.
For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth,
much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven.
And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying,

“YET ONCE MORE I WILL SHAKE NOT ONLY THE EARTH BUT ALSO THE HEAVEN.”

This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things,
so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Therefore,
since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken,
let us show gratitude,
by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;

for our God is a consuming fire.”

(The Letter to the Hebrews 12: 25-29 NASB)
