More Precious & Nothing Compares to Her
The other day, while watching TV, a commercial played across the screen, one advertising and telling the viewers about the importance of buying silver. The reason given was linked to the demand for silver in today’s technology and the depletion of silver from society due to humanity’s demand for technology. When this commercial finished, I did not find myself calling the local silversmith to make a purchase, nor did I suddenly pick up a sign to protest the overuse of technology within our society. However, what I did begin to do was “DIG” into God’s Word because I was suddenly intrigued about the precious metals that God has placed directly below our feet, deep within the crust of the earth.
The Bible says—
“How blessed is the man who finds wisdom
(The Proverbs 3: 13-19 NASB)
And the man who gains understanding.
For her profit is better than the profit of silver
And her gain better than fine gold.
She is more precious than jewels;
And nothing you desire compares with her.
[Then the Bible speaks of the benefits of finding wisdom.]
Long life is in her right hand;
In her left hand are riches and honor.
Her ways are pleasant ways
And all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,
And happy are all who hold her fast.”
First, let me say that I LOVE how the LORD personifies wisdom and understanding as “she.” This is quite beautiful. The LORD created the earth. The Bible says so, and we are to believe it. Thus, the LORD (in a sense) forged as a founder, placing the precious metals HE knew humanity would need as we walked the face of earth. The LORD placed them just so, directly below our feet, deep within the earth’s surface, enough to suffice and enough to meet our every need. We are not to be greedy in our possession of them, for HE wishes for ALL to encounter and acquire and accept and receive HIS MOST PRECIOUS GIFT OF ALL.
Does the LORD speak of gold, or of silver, or of all the other precious metals that can be mined?
No, Almighty GOD does not, but of something far more precious.
“How blessed is the man who finds wisdom
(The Proverbs 3: 13-195 NASB)
And the man who gains understanding.
For her profit is better than the profit of silver
And her gain better than fine gold.
She is more precious than jewels;
And nothing you desire compares with her.”
When I was in college, one requirement was to take two science courses with labs, so I chose biology (the study of life) first. I have always been a lover of rocks, so easily I chose geology (the study of the earth’s physical structure, substance, and processes) primarily because the course catalogue spoke of field trips to study “rock” walls. Needless to say, this particular geology course remains as one of my favorites, even after so many decades.
Recently, I was reading about how the tectonic plates slide beneath one another far below the earth’s surface, and as they do, earthquakes and volcanic reactions occur, but also, GOD CREATES A MIRACLE!
Far below the earth’s crust, a chemical exchange is occurring, one that God instigated and one that creates gold, silver, and other precious metals and minerals HE knew we would need. Then, God caused crucial water to flow at the precise depth and speed to create exactly what HE knew we would need.
TRULY, GOD THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING!
Consider what GOD had to do:
- Planet earth, although massive in size, needed to retain the necessary, precise heat.
- Planet earth, although vastly deep, needed the correct composition to enable the tectonic plates to move as they should.
- Planet earth, although created to sustain life form above the topsoil, needed the exact chemical condition for the precious metals to form.
- Planet earth, although aging as we speak and live and fading away, needed to be a stable-enough crust, one that formed and deposited necessary rock formations and precious metals.
- Planet earth, although deeper to the core than we could ever imagine, needed to be shallow enough for mankind to reach and access.
YES, TRULY, GOD THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING!
More Precious & Nothing Compares to Her
Truly, the Bible does not speak of precious metals found deep within the core of planet earth, of that which mankind can gather and hoard, buy and sell, and get rich by doing so.
No, truly, that was not HIS intent when GOD placed EVERYTHING we need right below our feet.
For sure, there is something far more precious, far more beautiful, far more lovely than gold, silver, or anything else!
Within God’s Word, the psalmist describes obtaining wisdom and explains how wisdom begins with the reverential fear of the LORD.
The psalmist does this so that we can truly understand what GOD would have for us.
“The law of the LORD is perfect,
(The Psalms 19: 7-11 NASB)
restoring the soul;
The testimony of the LORD is sure,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the LORD is pure,
enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is clean,
enduring forever;
The judgments of the LORD are true;
they are righteous altogether.
They are more desirable than gold,
yes, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.
Moreover, by them Your servant is warned;
In keeping them there is great reward.”
In closing, Beckah Shae sings a beautiful melody about GOD’S love for HIS creation.
- Listen to “Yeshua” and be reminded of how precious you are to HIM.
- Listen and recall just exactly what the LORD did for each one of us.
HE sent HIS only begotten SON to live and to die on the cross and to raise again to new life—so we might come to know HIM!
