Why We Were Created Part II
- We were created to search God’s plan for us.
- We were created to seek Him, to ask questions, to find Him.
- We were created to be amazed by God’s mystery.
Before time began, God’s plan was to sacrifice His only Son to pay for the sins of mankind:
- to make the Way for His People,
- for those who believe,
- to share in His glory forever.
After reading the preceding sentence, one must see the significance of key considerations
ONLY applicable to—Yahweh, God of the universe!
- Before time began, God’s plan was set.
- God’s plan was to sacrifice His only Son.
- God sent His only Son to pay for the sins of mankind.
- God’s plan for sending Jesus was to make the Way.
- God’s will for, His People, for those who believe.
- Those who believe will share in His glory forever.
Many years ago, my maternal grandparents moved from the farm next to the river to the farm on the highway. They were so proud of their twenty-acre farm that sat along Highway 231, a major thoroughfare that led from Interstate 65 to their small town, founded by a Dutchman Van Rensselear.
Years ago, winters hit hard in northern Indiana, and often, travelers were stranded along the interstate when the snow drifts closed the roadway, forcing everyone & normalcy of life to come to a dead stop. That’s when my grandpa would drive his heavy Ford LTD from the house on the highway to the hotel that sat near the interstate.
Countless times, grandpa would arrive back home with a family who had been stranded because of the snowstorm, a family, unable to find lodging because the hotel was completely full.
Oftentimes, grandma and grandpa Hall opened their home to strangers. They never seemed to fear allowing ‘strangers’ to sleep under their roof, for my grandparents were believers in God, Christians & followers of Jesus. They knew—
Who they served & Who owned everything.
What can we offer God but our thanks?
What can we give God but our worship?
The action of a grateful heart is the primary act of worship—what GOD deserves!
Maybe we are not serving as missionaries on foreign mission fields, and maybe we are not disaster relief workers serving in flooded areas. Maybe we are not pastors leading churches, and maybe we are not surgeons saving lives because of our medical skills. However, we can offer a sacrifice of praise to God as His bond-servants, just the same.
How, we might ask?
Well, it is so good that we have asked.
When we open our homes, When we invite others to share the food of our tables & When we open wide our front doors and welcome those in who need a nightly respite—
We offer God our Thanksgiving & our Worship.
My maternal grandparents professed Jesus as their Savior, and so, I know they have gone home to be with the LORD. One day, I too will join them in heaven, when the Lord Jesus Christ comes to bring me home. As the time draws closer every day I live here on earth, I often wonder what I will observe once I step through heaven’s pearly gates.
- Will I see a great banquet table?
- Will I see all the saints who have gone home before me?
- We will fully understand Why We Were Created—once we see Jesus face-to-face!
Most-definitely, we all (we who believe in Jesus & have accepted Him as our Savior) will fully comprehend the Amazing Love of God!
This week, the American Thanksgiving week, a time of remembrance.
May we:
- Open our hearts,
- Throw open our front doors,
- Invite strangers to our tables, and
- Seek to worship our Savior with all our hearts & with our thankfulness for His gift of salvation.
May we:
- Demonstrate through our actions—the thanksgiving we have in our hearts.
May we:
- Worship Him, the One who owns everything—our Father God of the universe.
