Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Move Past the Trivial

“Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name,
Make known His deeds among the peoples.”

(The Psalms 105: 1 NASB)

Last week, I was led to begin a daily list, writing five reasons each day I am thankful.  Since my back surgery in May, the LORD has afforded me the ability to walk, so it was a natural place for me to daily write, making a list on my phone, there on the roadway, as I walked.

At this point, I could begin to share my daily list, but truly, some of the personal, precious listings are just that—personal.  So, I will refrain.  Instead, it is vitally important we understand WHO is the one for WHOM our gratitude belongs.  The psalmist is clear.

“Oh give thanks to the LORD,
call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples.
Sing to Him,
sing praises to Him;
Speak to all His wonders.
Glory in His holy name;

Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Seek the LORD and His strength;
Seek His face continually.
Remember His wonders which He has done,
His marvels and the judgments uttered by His mouth,
O seed of Abraham, His servant,
O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones!
He is the LORD our God;
His judgments are in all the earth.”

(The Psalms 105: 1-7 NASB)
  • May we not marvel but be thankful for the trivial, and may we daily express our thanks to the LORD GOD of the UNIVERSE.
  • May we not forget that JEHOVAH GOD is the source of all gifts.
  • May we who believe, who have received HIS SALVATION learn to live a lifestyle of gratitude.

May we BE THANKFUL—

  • Because a THANKFUL HEART does not depend upon our earthly circumstances.
  • Because a THANKFUL HEART praises GOD despite what’s going on around us.
  • Because a THANKFUL HEART lifts our voices, singing:

“Thank You, God—for the sacrifice You have given to us—for JESUS.

Thank You, God—for the promise found within John 3:16.

Thank You, LORD—for YOUR Salvation that you promise—for all Eternity.

Thank You, GOD—for YOU.”

Today, we move past the insignificant things within our lives, those trivialities,

and instead we proclaim—

“Oh give thanks to the LORD, . . .”

(The Psalms 105: 1a NASB)
