A walk through life toward eternity

TOTALITY & MAGNIFICENCE!

“By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”

(The Letter to the Hebrews 10: 10 NASB)

The year 2024 has become one of spectacular nature, of destructive nature, and one of memorable sights of nature.  The known world has been devastated by—(numerous hurricanes & areas flooded)

  • Rivers overflowing its banks in the mountains of states far from the coast,
  • Tiny creeks at the back of a house becoming raging streams gushing into homes,
  • Floods raging across areas that were moments ago city streets,

& the known world has also been astounded by—(spectacular nature)

  • Memorable, colorful sights in the night sky
  • A totality of the sun that’s covered in fullness by the moon during the middle of the afternoon.

In nature, the totality of the sun’s coverage amazed me as I leaned back my head to take in God’s magnificent power. Truly, this calendar year will be remembered.

MOREOVER, THE TOTALITY OF THE SON OF GOD’S COVERING OF OUR SINS AMAZES US AS WE RECEIVE GOD’S MAGNIFICENT GIFT OF SALVATION!

As the author of The Letter to the Hebrews wrote centuries ago, the death of Jesus Christ was necessary—just “once for all.”  This was not a reoccurring sacrifice, and repeating atonement offered by the high priests for the sins.  No, in fact, the followers of Jesus claim this truth:  The LOVE of GOD has covered the totality of our sins with the precious blood of the Son of God.

Consider for a moment these two objects:  a drop of water & drops of blood.

  • In one, (the water) if the drop merges with other drops of water, then a calm stream quietly flowing behind a home quickly becomes a raging river, as it floods uncontrollably, overtaking the backyard and the entirety of the homes.
  • However, in the second, (the Savior’s blood) it flows, offered to all people, entirely covering the multitude of a person’s sins.  In fact, humanity’s sin, has been covered by the Son of God and son of man—JESUS.

The Bible speaks this truth, telling us how God prepared us before we were born to be right here—right now, living in this generation, in this particular time of HIS (Jesus Christ’s) story.

The great evangelist Dwight L. Moody wrote these words—“If I walk with the world, I can’t walk with God.”  Everyone is worthy of the same forgiveness & grace & love of God.  EVERYONE!  Thus, as children of God, we must allow love to be our first thought and our first reaction.  We must—

Commit to intimacy with those around us.

  • Commit to vulnerability with those who we encounter.
  • Recognize our own brokenness.
  • Love others as they are & not as we wish for them to be.
  • Not limit God’s love by attempting to mold others into the image we have for them.

Truly, we must also—

  • Blatantly love with all our heart.
  • Overflow with the love of Jesus.
  • Faithfully be an instrument of Jesus’ love.
  • May the Love of Jesus be the ground where we stand—Accepting others, Embracing others, Serving others, & Loving others.

WHY?

BECAUSE THE BLOOD OF JESUS, EVEN A SINGLE DROP, IS WORTH EVERYTHING!

The end of all things is near;
therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer.
Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another,

because love covers a multitude of sins.”

(The Letter of 1st Peter 4: 7-8 NASB)
