A walk through life toward eternity

Homesick for Heaven

“For our citizenship is in heaven,
from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ;
who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory,
by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Philippians 3: 20-21 NASB)

Many seek to ‘ink’ their body, a practice that was once relegated to someone who served in the Armed Forces.  However, today, everywhere we turn, we see people wearing body art, ‘inking’ their bodies.  Despite our thoughts on this practice and despite whether you or I will personally choose to ‘ink’ our bodies while we live here on earth, there is coming a day when I will wear the Lord’s name emblazoned on my forehead.  Please do not believe my words but see God’s Holy Word as evidence.

“There will no longer be any curse;
and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it,
and His bond-servants will serve Him;
they will see His face,
and His name will be on their foreheads.”

(The Revelation to John 22: 3-4 NASB)

Of late, I have found myself thinking heartily about heaven, the home all saints will arrive to when time here on earth passes.  The Bible is clear about this; we will go home!  In studying what God speaks about our homecoming, we read how heaven is BETTER than what we can imagine in our minds and how heaven is GREATER than anything we have ever seen. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE!

If we scroll social media at all, then we see hundreds of photos of God’s amazing creations:  a newborn baby held in a parent’s arms, rainbows after a summer rainfall, glimmering lakes and snow-capped mountain glades, raindrops clinging to drenched leaves, fields covered with waving prairie grass, and gorgeous valleys dwarfed by majestic mountain peaks.  Nevertheless, even though all of these photos are absolutely beautiful, there is nothing BETTER or GREATER than our heavenly home!

In heaven, we will recognize fellow Christian brothers and sisters because we have met some of them here on earth but also because, in heaven, all believers will be ‘inked’ with the Lord’s name on their foreheads.

  • Wouldn’t it be nice if God placed His name on our foreheads while we walked here on earth?
  • Wouldn’t that make our witnessing so much easier?
  • Wouldn’t it be nice to look at a person and immediately know where he stood with the Lord?

The Bible is absolutely clear!  There is only one solitary way to arrive home to heaven when our life here is finished—we must come to heaven through God’s Only Son—Jesus Christ, the Savior, Messiah, Redeemer & Lord.

“For the grace of God has appeared,

bringing salvation to all men,

instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires

and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age,

looking for the blessed hope of the appearing

of the glory of our great God and Savior,

Christ Jesus,

  • who gave Himself for us
  • to redeem us from every lawless deed,
  • and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession,
  • zealous for good deeds.

These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority.

Let no one disregard you.”

(The Letter of Paul to Titus 2: 11-15 NASB)

Truly, I am Homesick for Heaven, for my heavenly home, where I will be present forevermore with the Lord.  Christians await and long for the day Jesus will bring us home to heaven.  We know the kingdom of Jesus is not of this world, and that is why the Lord instructs us to be peculiar, to be different, to seek after the things that are pleasing to Him, while we remain on earth, away from home.

  • We will personally see Jesus coming when the Last Days are complete.
  • The LORD gave the apostle John a vivid depiction of Jesus’ second coming.

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse,
and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True,
and in righteousness He judges and wages war.
His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems;
and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood,
and His name is called The Word of God.
And the armies which are in heaven,
clothed in fine linen, white and clean,
were following Him on white horses.
From His mouth comes a sharp sword,
so that with it He may strike down the nations,
and He will rule them with a rod of iron;
and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.
And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written,

“KING OF KINGS,

AND
LORD OF LORDS.”

(The Revelation To John 19: 11-16 NASB)

There is coming a day when I will wear the Lord’s name emblazoned on my forehead.

Can you say the same?

Someone might ask:  How can I change my eternal citizenship, my eternal destination?

The answer is so simple but OH, SO MUCH GREATER THAN WE COULD EVER IMAGINE!

  • Call on the name of the Lord & Believe in Jesus, the Son of God.
  • Accept Jesus Christ as Lord of your life.
  • Confess your sins & Confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
  • Repent & Be Saved.

Then you, too, will also Become Homesick for Heaven.
