Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

If we ask in His name . . .

“And on the basis of faith in His name,
it is the name of Jesus
which has strengthened this man whom you see and know;
and the faith which comes through Him
has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.”

(The Acts of the Apostles 3: 16 NASB)

It has often been said that seeing is believing, OR that a picture is worth a thousand words; thus, within the Bible, we can SEE how these statements are true.  If we had been present that day when Peter and John encountered the man who had been unable to walk since birth & If we had SEEN this man (this beggar) sitting by the temple as people passed by him—Then maybe we would have been astonished too.

If we had seen the people pass by this man sitting on the ground as they entered the temple to pray & If we had SEEN the people through the gate called Beautiful to give their offering inside the temple—Then maybe we would have questioned the ‘power’ responsible for this miracle of healing.

William Shakespeare once penned (and I paraphrase):  “What’s in a name?”  At birth, each person must be given a name if his birth has occurred inside a hospital.  The magnitude of emotion felt when giving a name to our daughter is an emotion I remember well.  My husband and I knew that the name we wrote on the document would affect this baby God had given to us for her entire life.

What is in a name?

We who believe in the name of Jesus are told to pray in the name of Jesus, to remember He is our high priest, to always remember that Jesus hears our prayers and offers them to God.

We who are called Christians are to never forget how our prayers are always heard.

We come before the presence of Holy God when we pray in Jesus’ name!

  • Prayer changes everything!
  • Prayer binds Satan and restores our HOPE!
  • Prayer confesses our sins to the GOD of HOPE!
  • Prayer offers us courage to confess the name of Jesus before all men!
  • Praying in Jesus’ name brings us directly into God’s throne room because of what Jesus has already accomplished on the cross and in the tomb!
  • Prayer changes you and me; yes it does!
  • Prayer brings us to our knees as we plead to the highest power in the entire universe!

Are we praying?

Are we asking?

Are we praying in intercessory prayer for others?

Are we confident in the power of our prayers lifted in the name above all names?

We ask in His name . . .

In JESUS’ name we pray.

The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
the God of our fathers,
has glorified His servant Jesus,
the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate,
when he had decided to release Him.
But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One
and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,
but put to death the Prince of life,
the one whom God raised from the dead,
a fact to which we are witnesses.”

(The Acts of the Apostles 3: 13-15 NASB)

God’s Word proclaims—

The name of Jesus is above all names!

  • At the name of Jesus all men will bow down to their knees.
  • At the name of Jesus all people will confess Him as Lord.
  • When Jesus returns to earth for His church, the world will acknowledge the name:  JESUS!
  • When Jesus returns, humanity will be astonished, will be amazed, will suddenly know the TRUTH they have known from the very beginning.

“For a child will be born to us,
a son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called
Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
Eternal Father,
Prince of Peace.”

(The Book of Isaiah 9: 6 NASB)
