What Are We Willing to Lose?
The other day while I was working to prepare curriculum for the new semester, our campus minister stopped at my office doorway. This action occurs often, some weeks even daily, as we pause in our work to reflect upon what the Lord is doing.
The other day brought a similar conversation as I spoke of a past struggle, one that still takes away my breath and one that quickens my heart still.
After several minutes of talking, he spoke these words:
“God is preparing you for something He wants you to do.”
We have heard this statement before, but this time, BUT THIS TIME, yes, this time, the words landed deep inside our hearts. I have evidence from my own life, from the trial that the Lord walked me through as His Holy Spirit led me to the other side of the life-struggle. On this side, I could see with clarity and I could see how I overcame the struggle through God’s Grace.
Many believe that Christians walk a life of ease.
That’s just not true because often a Christian may be called to walk through an overwhelmingly difficult, breathtaking, unbearable TRIAL.
It is there, we see Jesus!
As a Christian walks forward through the difficult season of life, the STRUGGLE SO HUGE that life seems to crumble, then—
It is there, we see Jesus!
As a Christian steps forward, marching on, his faith grows because—
It is there—EVEN IN THE MIDST OF THE TRIAL—we see Jesus!
There is a Christian melody by Britt Nicole that speaks of the dark night, of the trial that makes us doubt everything we believe, the struggle when our heart breaks with anguish.
Pause to listen, yes, right here, right now, “The Sun Is Rising.”
EMBRACE:
God’s Perfect Plan!
God’s Unwavering Grace!
God’s Ever-Present Goodness!
What Are We Willing to Lose?
- Our Struggle? Yes, Lord, please take this away!
- Our Trial? Yes, Jesus, please make this go away!
- Our Father’s Amazing Grace?
- Our Faith in Jesus?
NO! NEVER! Lord please, please, let me believe and not doubt YOUR plan & YOUR goodness!
Today, may we each step forward in our faith.
Yes, may we each pause to pray, asking our Father to give us the strength we need to endure.
