Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Between God & His child

“Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer,
the LORD of hosts:

I am the first and I am the last,
And there is no God besides Me.
Who is like Me?
Let him proclaim and declare it;
Yes, let him recount it to Me in order,
From the time that I established the ancient nation.
And let them declare to them the things that are coming
And the events that are going to take place.

Do not tremble and do not be afraid;
Have I not long since announced it to you and declared it?
And you are My witnesses.

Is there any God besides Me,
Or is there any other Rock?
I know of none.’ ”

(The Book of Isaiah 44: 6-8 NASB)

“If you’re going to pray, pray BIG.”

The words were stated with seriousness.  We each understood what the speaker meant.  None of us standing there discounted the importance of what we were about to do.

  • We were there to PRAY, nothing more & nothing less.
  • We were there to PRAY to our Father.
  • We were there to PRAY to our Savior.

We were there together, in unison, lifting our voices, audibly PRAYING—asking God for a miracle.

Earlier in the day, after lunch, we sat together on the front porch, sharing time, counting minutes, and recalling instances before, when God had answered our PRAYER.

“Do you remember when we sat in the front ladies’ classroom, on that sunny evening, and the women were gathered to PRAY, to lay hands on __________ who was having seizures?”

“Do you recall how God answered our PRAYER, how the seizures disappeared.

& before that story—

“I remember when we had just arrived home, re-packed a bag, and were buying gas to make our return trip back to the hospital.”

“I remember the phone call, asking us to stay & not to come, as she (the one calling) reminded us—God’s Got This!  I can just sense it.”

Today, I can recall how God answered our PRAYER, how He healed the baby while she remained in the womb.  We had evidence, a pre-birth ultrasound that said otherwise, that she would have a cleft-lip, that she would have special needs, that she would experience complications.

This past school year, this small child, this beautiful little girl graduated top of her kindergarten class!

& after that story—another & another & another.

We often ask—

  • Does God hear our PRAYER?
  • Does God hear our PLEADING?
  • Does God really care about us, about our earnest PETITION?

HE DOES!

HE DOES!

HE DOES!

We know because we have evidence, because the Bible tells us & shows us SO!

“What then shall we say to these things?
If God is for us, who is against us?
He who did not spare His own Son,
but delivered Him over for us all,
how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

Who will bring a charge against God’s elect?
God is the one who justifies;
who is the one who condemns?

Christ Jesus is He who died,
yes, rather who was raised,
who is at the right hand of God,
who also intercedes for us.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 8: 31-34 NASB)

Between God & His child—exists no space—by God’s design.

  • He is our God & we are His child.
  • He is our Savior & we are His servant.
  • He is our Redeemer & we are His ambassadors.

We HOPE, placing our assurance in what Jesus has accomplished upon the cross and in the grave.

We do not ‘hope’ we are saved, wavering in wonder, blowing this way and that.

WE KNOW THAT WE KNOW THAT WE KNOW!

“Do not tremble and do not be afraid;
Have I not long since announced it to you and declared it?
And you are My witnesses.
Is there any God besides Me,
Or is there any other Rock?
I know of none.’ ”

(The Book of Isaiah 44: 8 NASB)

WE PLACE OUR HOPE IN GOD!

Even though He is unseen with our eyes, we have HOPE for we have evidence.  We have seen lives change right before our eyes, unbelievable things occur, amazing events, unexplainable instances—

“It is God!” are the only words we have. Therefore,

  • WE PERSEVERE. &
  • WE EAGERLY WAIT. &

WE HAVE HOPE—PLACING OUR FAITH IN THE ETERNAL GOD!

WE HAVE FAITH.

  • We lift our hearts to the Lord, our Maker, our Comfort.
  • We lift our hands, despite the tears we cry.

You are You—God.

Since we are weak, we need God’s Holy Spirit, He who holds fast our HOPE, who secures us in God’s eternal pledge.

  • We PRAY, praising our Father.
  • We PRAY, proclaiming honor to our Savior.
  • We PRAY, lifting our voices and our hands.
  • We PRAY in boldness, knowing GOD hears our PRAYER, even when we have no words, yes, even then, when we have so much anguish that our words will not come.

God knows our heart & hears our PRAYER.

  • Right then, Right there.
  • Between God & His child.

Jesus is there beside the Father, interceding for us to our Father.

We know because we have evidence, because the Bible tells us & shows us SO!

“Christ Jesus is He who died,
yes, rather who was raised,
who is at the right hand of God,
who also intercedes for us.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 8: 34b NASB)
