At That Moment
“From that city [the city of Samaria]
(The Gospel According to John 4: 39-42 NASB)
many of the Samaritans believed in Him
because of the word of the woman who testified,
“He told me all the things that I have done.”
So when the Samaritans came to Jesus,
they were asking Him to stay with them;
and He stayed there two days.
Many more believed because of His word;
and they were saying to the woman,
“It is no longer because of what you said that we believe,
for we have heard for ourselves
and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.”
You may know that I am currently in a daily study of learning the Dutch language, and it’s a challenge (to say the least). Nevertheless, I strive on, practicing daily: reading, typing, speaking the new words I am learning. At age fifty-seven, I find that my brain is definitely ‘spongier’ than I once thought because many of the words are sticking in my brain. The proof is found when I am able to send short messages to my Dutch daughter (in Dutch), then as she responds (in Dutch) I am able to comprehend many of the words.
With that thought in mind, this morning, I learned a new word, an English word, one I cannot yet spell or pronounce.
TRIBOLUMINESCENCE
It’s a mouthful—right!
Triboluminescence is created when light strikes certain objects or when light causes certain objects to be exposed to friction.
When Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman at the well & when she said, “He told me all the things that I have done,” it was Jesus, the Light of the World who illuminated the woman’s heart. This illumination Jesus brought to the woman caused a friction within her being—exposing her past sins. . Without a doubt, when God’s Holy Spirit convicts a person of his sins—a person cannot help but sense the Holy presence of God juxtaposed against the person’s own sinfulness!
No one knows the day the Lord will call them out of this life. It could be in forty-five years (for me) if I live to become 103, but it could also be thirty-five, twenty-five, fifteen, five, or one year from today. Truthfully, the day we are called out of this life could be TODAY.
At That Moment , we die, we leave & we are called into eternity!
We must be READY!
GOD IS IN CONTROL OF OUR NUMBER OF DAYS!
We know this to be true because the Word of God tells us so!
For those who are lost, who are not yet ready to face their eternal destination, our prayer is that TRIBOLUMINESCENCE will be created within their hearts, that they will SEE JESUS REALLY IS THE MESSIAH, THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD!
For those of us who already believe in Jesus Christ because of what He did on the cross and how He resurrected from the dead, our prayer is that others will respond as the Samaritans did when the Samaritan woman testified—that they will come to know Jesus as their Savior.
Our prayer is that the lost will exclaim—
“It is no longer because of what you said that we believe,
(The Gospel According to John 4: 42b NASB)
for we have heard for ourselves
and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.”
- We must be on mission.
- We must stay awake & testify.
- We must proclaim to the world—The Lord could return—At That Moment—when they are unsuspecting!
- We must All Be Ready!
- In fact, Jesus could come for us—At This Very Moment!
Jesus—The Son of God, the Savior & the Messiah said—
“Therefore, be on the alert—for you do not know when the master of the house is coming,
(The Gospel According to Mark 13: 35-37 NASB)
whether in the evening,
at midnight,
or when the rooster crows,
or in the morning—
in case he should come suddenly and find you asleep.
What I say to you I say to all,
‘Be on the alert!’ “
