Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

This OR That—Accept OR Deny—What Decision Will We Make? Yes OR No.

Pull on Shorts and a Graphic Tee OR Pull on Jeans, a Polo and a Jacket–what to wear?
Coffee OR Tea–what will we drink?
Eggs, Bacon and Toast OR Bagel with Cream Cheese and a Yogurt Cup–what to eat?
Work Today OR Play, Play, Play–what to choose?
Marry OR Stay Single and Totally Free–what fits our future best?
Will We Choose to Have Children to raise OR Continue to Focus Upon Raising the Child Deep Inside Us?
Post-Secondary Education OR Technical Trade School–what training do we desire?
Accept this Career Position OR Accept Another Offer for Our Career–where will we spend our working years?
DECISIONS.

Decisions are oftentimes stressful and almost impossible to make; yet, we have so much practice throughout life that our decisions should come quite easy.
For example, when we drive, we face numerous decisions JUST within the time span of traveling home.  We may travel on a journey with someone we love, sharing time away from the stress of day-to-day, & We may find that we are called to make decisions that seem correct when made, but not so great when a country drive becomes…..just a little more country.
Let me explain.

Yesterday we were driving home from a beautiful getaway to Bonita Springs, and we had traveled several hours when our GPS alerted us to the congested traffic ahead.   Decision Time!!
Should we ride it out and stay on the Interstate OR should we accept the alternate route Ms. GPS voiced aloud?   (She always sounds so sure of herself, and we trust her so much.)
Just a few days ago, we faced a similar decision at the start of our getaway, and when we accepted the alternative route, we were treated to a beautiful drive along a lake through Red Mountain State Park.   Maybe this off-interstate route will be a second, pleasant memory—-so, we decided to accept.

A Subaru is known as an off-road vehicle.   See my husband in the driver’s seat (yes, I decided to relinquish control of the vehicle to him); see him drive my green Subaru down a highway, then hear the familiar female GPS voice—-there is an even better alternative route that will shave off five minutes.   Allow me to pause and remind everyone that my husband is all-Navy, and shaving time is always a beautiful decision to him.  So, guess what choice we made?    We took the shorter route—a simple left-hand turn onto a country blacktop road heading into the trees.  Maybe this path will lead to another tranquil drive near a lake and through a state park.
Some decisions prove to be bad from the moment we say, “Go.”
Imagine interstate speed—that should reduce to highway speed—that should reduce to country blacktop road speed—-and what then surely must reduce to country gravel road speed…….BUT DOES NOT!!!

What do we do when the tranquil drive suddenly turns into a bumpy, narrow, hang-on-tight, tree-lined gravel, off-road experience?
Do we slow down to accommodate the decreased road condition. OR   Do we continue on at break-neck speed (shaving off our 5 minutes)?
You guessed correctly.   We hurry on!!!!

Maybe that’s why driving is so much like life.  Yes, so much so.
When we find ourselves on life’s narrow, dusty, bumpy, gravel roads……many times we think, “WE’LL JUST RIDE IT OUT” HOPING THE RIDE WILL END SOON & A NEW ONE WILL SOON BEGIN.
Sometimes we just make a bad decision and then compound the situation with a second (more) bad decision!!!!

God’s Word never leads us astray!!   NEVER!!!!
God’s Word is filled with direction.
God’s Word leads us to make sound decisions. Our lives are so intersected; so, whenever we make a decision that we think will only affect us individually, soon we see the error of our thinking because our decisions connect us to one another and create life adventures that we share with those we love.

God loves us.
God created each one of us; GOD LOVES EACH ONE OF US.
God knows our future; GOD LOVES US TOO MUCH TO ALLOW US TO WALK ALONE.
God sent His Son to die in our place, to become the ultimate sacrifice of mankind’s sins; GOD LOVES US SO MUCH!!!

Jesus, the Son, gave His life willingly upon Calvary’s cross, in place of ours; it was a decision God knew we would need from before the beginning of time.
God created us; God knows our every thought.
God did not leave us alone, but HE provided a Comforter, a Helper, His Holy Spirit to guide us along life’s way—GOD LOVES US SO VERY MUCH!

John (an apostle of Jesus) records the words spoken by Jesus to His disciples.  Jesus’ words remind us how He promised His Holy Spirit to His followers.
“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot hear them now.
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.
All things that the Father [God] has are mine [Jesus, God’s Son]; therefore I said that He [God’s Holy Spirit] takes of Mine and will disclose out to you”
(John 16: 12-15).

Life decisions can become easy when we allow ourselves to be guided by God’s promised, amazing Holy Spirit.
Life decisions can become easy when we accept Jesus as our Savior and LORD.
Life does not need to become one detour followed by another OR  One highway turned to a blacktop road, and then turned into a bumpy, country, gravel road.
Truly know—–GOD LOVES YOU  &  GOD LOVES ME!!!

GOD LOVES ALL OF HUMANITY….SO MUCH…..THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON TO DIE IN OUR PLACE SO WE COULD ACCEPT HIS OFFER OF AMAZING GRACE AND SHARE ETERNITY, FOREVERMORE WITHIN GOD’S PRESENCE.
It truly is a decision that each one of us must make—Individually.

DECISIONS……Sometimes they can be so difficult to make.
DECISIONS……We can follow God, listen to His Holy Spirit leading us as we pray  &   be at peace in our decision making.
DECISIONS……God’s Holy Spirit will guide us……if we choose to accept Jesus—If we become God’s child.
DECISIONS……What will we do with the question of Jesus?   Will we accept Jesus as our Savior OR   Will we say, “No, not today, God” and refuse His offer of salvation.
Truly……the Decision is ours to make.
Most Definitely……this decision has eternal consequences.
Most Assuredly……we each must DECIDE who we will trust…..
Satan, the father of lies.  OR

Almighty Jehovah God, the Father of Truth!!!!

The Decision Is Ours…..Individually To Make.
Seek God Today, He is the Only Decision that Truly Matters!!!
