Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

“to obtain an inheritance”

  • We praise God, who is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We receive this new life our Savior Jesus has given to us.
  • We recognize how this new life we have been given is only possible because God raised Jesus Christ to new life after His death on the cross.
  • We are alive & we are sure that we will receive the future home within the presence of God He has promised to all who believe.
  • We wait, impatiently at times; nevertheless, we wait to receive the “goodness” our Father God has prepared, that await us.

The Holy Spirit of God led His prophet Isaiah to record what we are to focus on and to avoid as we walk throughout our remaining days here on earth.  May we pause to read together God’s Holy & Infallible Word

[You, child of God]
“Do not call to mind the former things,
Or ponder things of the past.
Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.”

(The Book of Isaiah 43: 18-19 NASB)

God allows us to walk through certain things, situations, circumstances, trials, and struggles, placing them into our path.  Our Father does this on purpose—for HIS PURPOSE!

It is ours to walk through, no matter what it may be—

  • Health scares.
  • Death of a loved one.
  • Loss of employment.
  • Change of employment.
  • New steps, new opportunities we could not even imagine.
  • Births and even adoptions.

Unexpected by us but definitely planned by our Father who loves His children beyond measure.

  • We need to learn to trust Him.
  • We need to learn to lean in, to lean on, and to fall into our Savior’s arms.

He is growing us, establishing us, maturing, and increasing our faith.

Let us not look backward in wistfulness to our life before Christ & do not let us even desire what we enjoyed when we walked in the darkness (of our lostness).

BUT

Let us look forward in anticipation to our new life in Christ & let us desire the beautiful things He will bring to us as children of the light (those who have been saved by Jesus Christ).

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away,
reserved in heaven for you,
who are protected by the power of God through faith
for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

(The First Letter of Peter 1: 3-5 NASB)

Thus, while we are walking through our ‘new life’ in Christ Jesus, we are to recall Isaiah’s words, the prophet of God—

“Do not call to mind the former things,

Or ponder things of the past .

Behold, I will do something new,

Now it will spring forth; . . .”

Something new—how exciting is that!

  • No longer walking dead but walking in new life all because of our faith in what Jesus did for us on the cross of Calvary and in the grave when God raised Him to new life!

The Christian band North Point Worship sings a melody, one we may have heard and tapped our toes to.  Today, may we listen, enjoy, and focus anew on the lyrics, as we are reminded how—IT IS ALL BECAUSE of JESUS, our “Death Was Arrested.”

“We’re free, free, free
Forever we’re free.
Forever amen when death was arrested and my life began.”

“Death Was Arrested.”

PRAISE GOD, WE HAVE RECEIVED GOD’S MERCY & GRACE “to obtain an inheritance!”

“Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.”

(The Book of Isaiah 43: 19 NASB)
