Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

“a Temple of the Holy Spirit”

“Now God has not only raised the Lord,
but will also raise us up through His power.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ?
Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute?
May it never be!
Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her?
For He says,
“THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH.”
But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirt with Him.”

(The 1st Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 6: 14-17 NASB)

Today, I face the most important question, one that is asked of every child of God—

What part of you belongs to the Lord?

Hum.

What part?

  1. My daily career?
  2. My care of my family?
  3. My reactions to what others say and do?
  4. My humility or lack thereof, the humility my Lord seeks of me?
  5. My body and the way I care or do not care for it?
  6. My mind and what I choose to pour into it, or to expose it to?
  7. My desires, wishes, and all the things on this earth that I really just want?
  8. My quiet time shared in intimacy with my Savior and Lord?
  9. My driving time, my waking time, and even my resting time?
  10. My . . .

What part of you (and me) belongs to the Lord?

Thank goodness we do not need to wonder for the BIBLE, GOD’S HOLY WORD, reveals the TRUTH!

“Now God has not only raised the Lord,
but will also raise us up through His power.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ?”
Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute?
May it never be!”

(The 1st Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 6: 14-15 NASB)

During this next month, on the first day of the month, my husband and I will celebrate thirty-eight years of marriage.  He will be so proud that I remember the amount and the actual date because, yes, he likes to tease me about my lack of memory & mathematic skills.

Thirty-eight years.

  • 38.
  • Ten + Ten + Ten + eight.
  • 50 – 12.
  • 6 x 6 + 2.
  • 8 x 4 + 6.
  • 70 – 31with only a remaining party of 1.

So many years, and during that time, we have shared—

  • Several Military Deployments and months spent apart.
  • Barrenness and the worry if we will ever be with child.
  • Job loss & Job found.
  • Parental deaths.
  • High days and good times as well as low days and not-as-good times.

However, in every single day since February 1, 1986, we have been married to one another—

“Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her?
For He says,
“THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH.”
But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirt with Him.”

(The 1st Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 6: 16-17 NASB)

Today, let us, children of God, ask ourselves the most important question.

What part of you belongs to the Lord?

  • Do we allow ourselves to “go deep” with God?
  • Do we allow ourselves to “go wide” with our Father?
  • Are we living every day our Creator gives to us with intentionality?

Let us never forget—

ALL OF US—ALL PARTS OF US—EVERY ATOM OF OUR BEING—BELONGS TO THE LORD!

We do not need to wonder what God expects of His child, for the BIBLE speaks with clarity!

“But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
Flee immorality.
Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body,
but the immoral man sins against his own body.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you,
whom you have from God,

and that you are not your own?
For you have been bought with a price:  therefore glorify God in your body.”

(The 1st Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 6: 17-20 NASB)

May we—

  • Commit this day to live with intentionality.
  • Never forget Whose we are!
  • Always remember that we belong to the LORD—Every speck of our being!

May we—

  • Strive to be pleasing to our Father!
  • Press into His Son Jesus!
  • Walk within the will of the Holy Spirit!

May each child of God—

  • Recall moment-by-moment how our  “body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, . . .”
  • Recall second-by-second how we “have been bought with a price:”
  • Remember with clarity—”therefore [to] glorify God in your body.”

For it is not us, the children, but God—Almighty, Sovereign God—Who has the divine right to govern our lives!
